Icehockey & Discos

Hi Everyone, on Friday night we went to Penker, which is a nightclub, disco place. It was really fun, didn't stay too late as they kicked us out at 12:00 because we are underage. Also on Saturday St Nicholas came, as Sunday was St Nicholas' Day, so I got a Santas hat full of lollies and chocolate!! On Saturday did some shopping and played about 30 games of Wii Bowling, and strike is the same in German as in English!! On Saturday night we went to a ...

Christmas Markets and Beautiful Regensburg

... Church (der Dom) because on the tour we only hung around the outside. I'm glad I did it was absolutely amazing. I really wanted to take some photos but we weren't allowed. I videoed for about a minute before you can hear a whisper in the background of 'that sign says no photos/videos allowed' from my friend and I quickly put it down worried that someone would come over and yell at me in German, but they didn't.
Here are some ...

Finally Arrived

... I personally found really sad (but then again I find lots of Disney movies sad!). We landed in Singapore at about 3:00am Melbourne time, where we only had a 15 minute stopover (just enough time to call mum and talk about the first leg of the trip) and then we were on the same plane again, so I hardly got to look around at the airport.
We had another 7 hour flight, with breakfast at 4:00am- an omelette, and hardly any sleep (maybe a couple of hours) and ...

A Medieval Town

... Cathedral and the Stone Bridge. That is still all that they serve from a small building with a wood-fired grill inside and a lot of long wooden tables and benches outside. I had two sausages and sauerkraut on a hard roll which was delicious.
We walked back to the ship in time for lunch. Today was a special Bavarian lunch so I had more sausage and sauerkraut but it was not as tasty as what I had at the 900 year old restaurant.
Tonight at ...

Have I mentioned I love Regensburg?

... is no way). Now I just walk along, not caring at all what others are saying, most of the time I even miss the English conversations. There are many other things I've learned, but I won't go into those.

Classes are interesting (sometimes). I'm taking 4 for those of you who don't know. German 101 (beginners language) is going ok. It is just hard to learn a different language. I had a test last week and did ok on it. I did learn that I'm going to have to watch myself ...

Getting settled

... to IKEA, however I had a fun experience with getting on the bus before everyone else and getting shut in the door. Not only did my arm almost get detached, but I was alone on a 20 minute bus ride (and the next one didn't leave for 2 hours), the bus driver did finally let me off the bus though, and after a short little walk, I rejoined my friends at the train station (where many of the buses leave ...

A 30 pound box isn't THAT bad... NOT

... toilet, and shower (yay for non community bathrooms!). I really do love my room. It is nice and big, in a convenient location, and has a nice view of the top of the dome and a cute little alley way/street that opens to a square. And did I mention how big my room is? Apparently it is one of the largest the program has! I will eventually do a video blog on the dorm rooms here, including the other options as well, so you will be able to see more then. For now, some pictures will have to do.

Tour of Regensburg

... outside next the the swift Danube, we enjoy our sausages, kraut and drink. Boy, they were yummy. Word on the street says that this little kitchen was built the same time as the bridge and cathedral in order to serve the workers a warm meal. Not sure if it's true (and I don't think they can prove it's existence THAT far back) but those little wursts were fantastic. After lunch, Petra is called home to take care of Elli, so Arthur, Chris and I continue our adventures ...

Regensburg

14th June Regensburg Well we are now in Germany, Bavaria. Lovely morning cruising, and then reached the town after lunch. Along the way we passed the memorial to German soldiers, "Walhalla", wondered if we had slipped into Greece, the style definatley belonged there. Each town we visit there is an included walking tour with local guides, very informative, but at times we rebel and do our own thing. It starts to be a bit like an ABC tour ...

Underwhelmed in Regensburg

... day in Regensburg. Go figure. As usual, I spoke too soon. As soon as I decided to go out for a walk, it started to turn cold and then rain. Undeterred, I found myself after an hour at the 'Dom', a pretty big and elaborate gothic church. I just caught the end of what appeared to be some kind of concert, with a chap talking and then some very scary organ music sounding like something from a Dracula movie. Nice church but. At this stage there doesn't seem like ...
