In total there were 14 of us on the trip. We all met at the usual Outdoor Club trip meeting spot at 9.30am, piled into 2 vans, and began the 4 hour drive. It was getting quite cold thanks to a polar vortex, and the further North we drove, the deeper the snow and the higher the snow piles were on the sides of the roads. It was like driving through a tunnel.

Yes, we are heading to Portugal this year. Our home away from home will be a 300 year old whitewashed house, dating from before the Lisbon earthquake in 1755. It is set into a hillside near the top of a village called Penedo, northwest of Lisbon. I am anxious to see it. I am excited for the experience and I am pleased to share.
