    ... It was early afternoon and we had stopped in a town called Songpong, and outside a hotel. A rumour erupted that we might stay here for the night instead of chancing not making Chengdu.     ... hike and the cold was starting to wear us down. It was according to the signs 3.5km back to the main gate but with aching feet, ankles and sore calves the hike back felt more like 10km. I’m pretty sure their signposts are incorrect because we hiked for a total of 4.5hrs. Ethan and I ran through the forest normally closed for the winter but it was the shortest way back.
