    Today turned out to be a really strange day. Sitting here writing we are not even sure what city we are in. It was the first day of cycling for a couple of weeks and the first day of our 5000 mile ride down to Singapore.     Six of us left for Leshan with hopes of seeing a giant Buddha (measuring 71 metres tall). It was built in AD 713 in the hope that he would calm the rapid river next to the town. Fortunately the river was tamed but some non-believers claim this to be because of the massive amount of rock poured into it while the Buddha was being created.
