    Today turned out to be a really strange day. Sitting here writing we are not even sure what city we are in. It was the first day of cycling for a couple of weeks and the first day of our 5000 mile ride down to Singapore.     My last day in Chengdu was a day out from the city itself. I took a bus from the central city bus station to a place called Leshan which is about a 2 hour bus ride away and home to the world's largest Buddha - carved out of a red sandstone cliff, it measures some 71m high and was carved by a monk in the 8th century to calm the rough river that it faces.
