    ... so he engraved his face instead. It was pretty hard to see because it was in the bottom righthand corner but you could work it out. His face was amongst the trees. Very very clever.

    ... about Ljubljana, but I was still startled by what a beautiful centre the city has, round the river area. Stone bridges, cobbled pedestrian streets, fascinating shops, elegant architecture - why doesn't everyone know about this city? We even found, and used, one of those cool raw milk dispensers that I've read about on the net, and Squirt has given the taste her seal of approval.     ... way up. The ride down was great and we passed through Sorica which is apparently famous for Ivan Grohar. He was an orphan who later travelled to Germany to develop his talent as an impressionist artist. I later googled his life and found it to be quite interesting.     ... and took a dip in the warm water - warmer than the sea anyway. Walked along boardwalks of Vintgar gorge to large waterfall. Bravely stayed in carpark after optimistically interpreting the answer of the lady selling the tickets. No problems and very tranquil spot.

  • Bike ride in morning before drive over Vrsic mountain pass - most impressive scenery we've seen so far on this trip. Poor van!
