Sneeky Has headed East!!! Hi everybody.. Well from Xi'an Rob & I headed to the slightly smaller city of Luoyang, or so we thought. Luoyang - we later found out - has roughly the same population as Xi'an (6 million) so it wasnt so much of a smaller city but more a city where not many westerners head too!! At Xi'an train station we said our goodbyes to the girls which was odd as we had been traveling with them for so long but got on with the job in hand.. On the way in we had to fight our w...

... checking on her once!

The only way that communism seemed to exist was in the form of blocking freedom of thought from people. Many websites are banned in China- including facebook and most blogs (my excuse for taking so long to write this!) and all the news is completely sanitized- for instance we knew little of the execution of the rioters in the Xinjain province in Northern China (and don't worry Mum, we were no where near them!). All the news is ...

Unbelievable, and different of what we have seen so far in Thailand-Cambodia and Vietnam. There was rubbish everywhere. But no, as if they knew we were coming and gave it a good rub down for us. The roads brand new, and all the flowers and trees all nicely trimmed. But after 5 miles another stop. 2 more Chinese policemen came in and again a passport check. Strange after 5 miles ...

Nanning, Guangxi, China jessicasetiawanFollowing our fantastic 3 night stay in Yang Shou, which I must add is a complete must if anyone is considering a trip to China. The Li River experience combined with a stay in Yang Shou is a highlight for most, while you can spend time just taking in the Limestone Karst cliffs that scatter as far as the eye can see.

We caught a bus back to Guilin, picked up our bags from the hostel and then caught a 6 hour double-decker train to Nanning.

Nanning, I half ...
Nanning, Guangxi Zhuang, China globetrekcharli... bus, Steve. His border crossing was tougher, because he was wearing different clothes to those in his passport, and had a different hair cut. He was detained for a while until they were happy that he was himself! The bus arrived in Nanning at five past seven, with my planned train for Nanchang leaving five minutes earlier, meaning I would have to spend the night in Nanning. The three of us shared a room, which was nothing unusual for me ...

Awhile later a young man came by and asked if we got to eat in the dinning car, Len said no and thanked him for asking. Night two, we knew something about stopping and getting off and also having to clear Chinese customs for leaving and Vietnamese for entering. This is how the long evening went: Shortly after 8pm all going to Hanoi got off and went to a waiting room for about 45 ...
Nanning, Guangxi Zhuang, China dancejillOk...I'm back again in China trying to start-up this same piece of equipment... I'm realizing now that I've been traveling for work more days this year than I've worked in the office. And I'm a product manager, not a field services guy. Don't take me for ...
Nanning, China big_red_truck... hen's feet came out! They understood my cries of being a vegetarian after looking very upset when I refused her food and not the others. They all went to bed by 22:00. Thursday the 21st of September 2006. Still on the train heading south to Nanning. I woke a few times but got up at 08:00. It was flatter countryside outside. I think we crossed the Yangzi at 11:30 at Wuhan but the next station signs were down. My book let me down on the names of many stations so I will have to ...
Nanning, China sarahbooth... a 9.30pm ticket to Guangzhou and took a taxi to a huge and ultra-modern bus terminal outside of town. I even had time for some KFC before boarding. The bus itself was heaven - nothing like I've ever seen before and vastly better than anything I've ridden in Asia. Brand new with three double leveled rows of sleeper beds (around 40 beds in total approximately) made for supreme comfort and rest ...
