    ... we finally reached the Monterosso, we were all so thirsty and tired, we bought a drink straight away. The rest went to the beach and entered the waters but I didn't enter Cus I don't have any slippers and time is not on our side as we had to rush to florence. We practically run to the train station which was quite far away (10mins walk, about 6mins run), as we were going to miss the train back to la spezia.     ... along with 1,000s of others). We had to be a bit careful in the crowded station and watch out for pick pockets. After we left Cinque Terre we headed to Santa Margherita Ligure on the Ligurian Coast for the night. Next morning we caught a boat from Santa Margherita Ligure to Portofino. We had some time to go exploring so we climbed the hill to a church which gave us a great view of Portofino.

    ... continues and the seats in the piazzas are occupied but the number if people has dropped off enormously.

    However if I stayed I would have to do something about the food. As much as I love pasta, and I have happily eaten pasta every day, I would love to duck out and pick up some sushi for lunch or maybe just a quick Thai to spice things up a bit.     ... was bad. What can I do? Nothing! And then, of course, with that blow to my self esteem, in came all those negative thoughts that I try and keep under control. "What a looser, what a failure and now, to make matters worse OLD!!

    There was nothing left to do but have a piece of foccacia with Italian sausage, a glass of wine and a lie down.

    The markets for our daily supply of fruit and veg again. I am going to the same family every morning now and they are helping me with my Italian. Sadly, my brain really struggles to remember the word structure but I hope I'm getting better. So much of my day is spent trying to convert what I want to say into Italian.
