The weather has been nice too, about 23 degrees I think. Our hotel has a pool on the roof but we haven't done any swimming yet. We're moving on again at 12:50 tomorrow when we fly to Mumbai. The next part of our adventure is about to begin...pretty much a whole month in India. It should be fun and hopefully it'll generate some more stories/ memories!

... a taxi to Festival City where there turned out to be a much bigger, nicer mall to look around! We went for lunch at the Hard Rock Cafe and then went to the supermarket for some snacks! Just having a relaxed evening back at the hotel and looking forward to a more active day ...

... ve somehow arrived when there are few tourists around and have every shopkeeper in the passageway wanting to talk to me.

I continued up the Creek (so to speak) to reach Dubai’s oldest building, Al Fahidi Fort built in 1799 and now home to Dubai Museum, and meandered further through Bastakiya, the heritage area with its beautiful restored old wind tower buildings.

Back at 2:30 we changed and all caught a taxi to Dubai Mall. 1400 ...

... which was extremely impressive, just as I had imagined it to be. Inside the mall was not only shops but an enormous variety of restaurants, a cinema (22 cinemas on four floors I might add), an indoor theme park, just your casual ice skating rink and one of the worlds largest aquariums. We spent about eight hours in the mall shopping and exploring. At 8.30pm we paid $40 to visit the worlds largest building which had over 200 floors and another fun fact - the lift ...

... of Chadstone. Peter is exhausted from walking,Jean and Barry have already gone back to Hotel so we decide to go back as well. When we get back to Sheraton Peter decides he hasn't seen the ski field so off we trudge to the furtherest wall of the Mall. We are being picked up at 4.30 for the dessert Safari. I had to have a bath or my legs would collapse from all the walking. 6 people in an SUV take off for an hour drive to the dessert. Dosn't take long to be out ...
