    A Sick Day

A travel blog entry by ddmac54 on Sep 12, 2015

... Michael. Well, he did bring the disease home from one of the unwashed masses he works with. If he didn't harass them about their sick time they probably wouldn't come to work sick. Yes, I'm no treat when I'm sick.

It's still a horrible rainy rotten day and it's only 10:30 a.m. On a positive note Michael's soup smells amazing. Maybe when it stops raining Michael will go out and buy some butter tarts, which Jim has kindly recommended to us. That will probably ...

    ... etc.

What a luxury to have someone clean your place and change all the bedding. The bedroom looks quite different.

I had a bowl of my chicken soup, some Carr's water crackers (my favourite) and local cheese with a nice cuppa and a couple of aspirins and I'm feeling better.

    Marwood Hill Gardens

A travel blog entry by ddmac54 on Sep 10, 2015

It was another absolutely beautiful day here in England. We decided to have a bit of a relaxing, nature kind of day. One of the closest lovely gardens is the Marwood Hill, which is just outside Barnstaple. Not Barn-Staple, as we were saying, but Barn-STA-bul.

Marwood is a private 20 acre garden with three tiny lakes, created by Dr. James Smart. There is a statue of him in the garden, which I will show you. The garden is now maintained by his nephew, ...

    Port Isaac aka Port Wenn

A travel blog entry by ddmac54 on Sep 09, 2015

... a two hour drive away through hair-raising narrow roads and breath-taking sea views. Once we got there, it was absolutely jam packed with tourists. Bloody people! We finally got a parking space and made the very steep climb up from the harbour to the village. And then we saw it! The very spot that Doc Martin is filmed. I pointed out the house where he lives and has his surgery and Michael took my photo in ...

We decided to try a new town in the opposite direction of where we went yesterday and chose Ilfracombe.

The drive there was the usual nightmare of too narrow lanes (calling them roads would be too generous and very inaccurate). I had to make a decision today of whether to watch the scenery as we drove along and be completely stressed or shut my eyes and miss everything. At first, I decided to go for bravery, but then the hedges scraped the side mirror and I saw ...
