As upsetting as this was at the time, it allowed us to see one of the most beautiful sunsets we have ever seen over the Teton range.

Thursday we woke up and took the water ferry across Jenny Lake to do one of the park's most popular hikes to Hidden Falls and Inspiration Point. After battling through the crowds on this two mile stretch, we went on up through ...
Jackson, Wyoming, United States nelmieux... Hayden Valley with sweeping views of the surrounding mountains. We stopped at Canyon Village and took a short walk to look at the Grand Canyon of Yellowstone and Lower Falls, where a large waterfall dropped into a long narrow canyon with white and yellow sulfur sidewalls. Here we also got to experience the huge crowds that people complain about at Yellowstone. After the Falls we went on to the ...
Jackson, Wyoming, United States nelmieuxJackson Hole

The following day we left at 10am and drove the scenic route to Jackson Hole. It was a lovely drive past lots of potato fields, mountains and rivers. On arriving we booked on the next available boat for some (grade 3) white water rafting. We had a hour to spare before rafting so we put the trailer tent up at a nearby campsite. When we arrived back at ...

We tried to pick up the pace to avoid getting caught in the rain (and what eventually turned to hail), but it was inevitable. Grand Teton was another great national park with some spectacular scenery. There was one section of the park where there must of been nearly 100 cars lined up along the side of the road to take pictures of the scenery (see one of the attached photos).
<br ...

We saw, and smelt, lots of geysers and mudpots including of course the star attraction, Old Faithful. After a 20 minute wait, off it went, impressing the decent crowd that had gathered. Except Daniel who wasn't all that impressed; maybe we had built it up too much, or more likely, he has been dazzled by so many man-made explosions that this gentle ...
Jackson, Wyoming, United States sschwaiger... far the best meal up to now. Beside our table are an Italian couple, Max and Rosa, who we had seen at our motel. We get into conversation with them, and they tell us that they too first went to the Teton Gables, disliked it, and ended up at the Pony Express. Afterwards we decide to visit the city centre to walk off the repast. It is a very nice ...
Jackson, Wyoming, United States mmbcross... my blogs over the past 6 months knows I'm quite a fan of using expressive and colourful language to describe some of the beautiful places we've visited. The truth is that at every step of the way during our journey, our experiences seem to have gotten better and better and even more magnificent. Some friends and family have said that my blogs have motivated them to try to visit some of the same places I've described so before any of you hop on a plane ...
Jackson, Wyoming, United States mattersdorff... of things like drought, previous fire suppression policies and insect infestation caused by the first two reasons. It seems to hang on us screwing up the environment with the increase of carbon dioxide and do what we thought was the right way to manage large tracts of forest. Anyway, as we left Yellowstone Park we entered into Grand Tetons Park and we caught our first views of the Grand Teton Mountain Range. More on that tomorrow.
