We stayed in the old part of Seoul (at the Hilton - but it was nice) and close to the main Seoul train/subway station and Mt. Namsan. We were able, with Tara's help, to get around on the subway. Dain had a few days off work when we arrived so we were able to see the sights with guides --- Olympic Park, Buddhist temples, main palace, Insadong, Namdaemun market, Dongdaemun market, Coex, Mt. Namsan, and Freedom Bridge and the border between North and South Korea.

... way back home I would race the youngster once more only to be defeated by youth.
Today I have a date or a rendezvous with a sweet Korean woman I meet a few weeks ago. I sat beside her on a train on the way out of Seoul for some wake boarding. I was about to pop in my head phones when she said "Would you like one?" as she offered me a crispy treat. We talked for the hour ride and the magic of finding commonalities in someone across the globe and from a ...
... banquet rooms. There was a mix of western and Korean style food.
Shortly, we all loaded buses to go to the Hyundai factory. When we got there we were shown a 10-minute long ad and then given a slide show presentation describing this plant, Asan, in particulars production facts and the brief assembly procedure. Then we went on a half-hour guided tour of the plant. It was awesome! We got to see huge robots assembling cars!! Sadly, we were not ...
... the elevator down, and got mom, Connie, and Kate into a cab. The taxi driver drove around Express Bus Terminal a few times until I told him to just let us out (in such kind words I swear). We had 2 minutes to get to the meeting point, and didn't even know how to get to the subway. We went through the underground shopping area and came out of exit 8. (now apparently there's a huge difference between the Subway exit 8 for the subway and the Subway exit 8 for the ...
Hanam-si, Gyeonggi, Korea Rep. heatherann... So, while she was in the bathroom, I leaned over and offered to make sure he was sitting next to her. I don't mind playing match-maker. And if either of them read this...well...hope you can take the embarrassment! But what is there to be embarrassed about? It is natural to like each other! :)
I think most cultures take liking each other too seriously. If a guy likes you and you don't, feel flattered and endure it ...
... we heard horror stories about how crowded it is, so we opted for Seoul Grand Park. Ashley had heard there were a lot of cherry blossoms at the park and considering our only goal for the day was to take pictures of cherry blossoms......that is where we went. OMG! First, while we were waiting for our transfer, this Korean guy comes up and "accidentally" bumped into us! Ashley and I didn't even lift our eyes...."he did that on purpose ...
Seoul, Korea Rep. april.abate... office supply nomad. I might not go to Bali this summer as I had originally planned. I think I might go to Laos instead. Laos looks amazing and everyone I have talked to said it was their favorite place ever! Laos is a very quite Buddhist country surrounded by Thailand and China and one other country, but I cant remember which one. I am thinking that Laos will get really cold during the winter so I might go there during my summer break and then go to tropical ...
Seoul, Korea Rep. april.abate... wandering around although it's way too early to think about souvenirs, with potentially another eleven months ahead. I've barely taken any photos since arriving either, as I will have ample opportunity in the future. I looked upon this initial jaunt as a way of familiarising myself with the city and it's highlights... Korean people are much more abrupt/direct than the Japanese, often pushing in front of you in queues and the like. Despite this, I still found ...
Seoul, Korea Rep. rich... just parts of the many layers of the onion that we are. When I run I like to meditate. I try and let my mind slip into a place of no thought. This was not the case today as I belted out some km's on the treadmill while listening to the many songs on my IPod and watching lions hunt water buffalo on the National Geographic Channel on the TV in front of me. Of course with the TV sound replaced by my IPod I couldn't help my ...
Uijeongbu, Korea Rep. morpheous... since I left Australia, so naturally I jumped up and screamed, much to the consternation of the guy who had hired us the boat, who waved his arms at us from the shore yelling at me to sit down. After I settled down on the opposite side of the row boat and the rocking subsided, I managed to enjoy myself. Very pretty.
Soju was one of the things I decided I had to try while in Korea. It was probably Allison telling me "Soju is evil" that did it. Well, that and the fact that it is ...
