      We had a great dinner last night with Tom, Gractia and the two kids in Dayton Ohio. They advised us to stop at jungle Jims on our way out, which is not your typical grocery store/ international market/ butcher/ fish market/ liquor store/ cigar shop/ etc... This place was huge! After spending a bit doing some shopping around the world we are off to the Great Smokey Mountain national park to do a little hiking. Tennessee here we ...

      ... all the truck traffic. Richard had counted on getting an electronic trip tik from CAA the night before we left to confirm our route. It turns out the format has changed and we decided against downloading it to the iPad.

      Nonetheless we made it to Miller Lane and tried yet another hotel here which was just fine. It was great to be able to walk to dinner across the street at O'Charleys.

      We stopped for a break at the Alan Shepherd Museum. There were nice displays and the original movie of the moon landing. I remembered waking up my kids who were 1 and 2 at the time to get up and watch it live. I doubt that they remember it.
      There was a display of all the astronauts that came from Ohio. There were a lot, probably more than any other state.

      Here we are in Dayton. Every other mile in Ohio is being dug up or paved, but we had zero hold-ups, just lots of hairy, narrow lanes at 65 mph & hundreds of 16-wheelers movin' the USA economy along. Tonight we 'll dine with some calm dignity (we hope) .... a Japanese restaurant right across the road from the motel.

      Saw glimpses of Lake Erie: very blue, featureless, and without a farther shore. ...
