... place, half hour early. Dress code: no low cuts for ladies otherwise you have to buy a T-shirt at the souvenir shop, reason because there are many monks residing in this temple, we have to show respect before entering the premise and no wearing red attire or you will be lunch for the tigers. By noon, the gate opened, we were ushered to the smaller gate. We walked through trees and mangroves, with a small path leading us nowhere, gloomy, as it was after the rain ...
Kanchanaburi, Kanchanaburi, Thailand funklicks... there didn't seem to be anyone there that really spoke English and it was kind of off the main drag. It was also kind of pricey, but at this point I just wanted somewhere warm to shower and pass out. Heather and I treated ourselves to some pizza and soda for completing our 19.2 km hike (about 11.5 miles) and passed out. All-in-all a good day even though we didn't get to see anything at the top and despite the fact we had to listen to Justin complain about how tired and sore he was.
Jeju City, Jeju Island, Korea Rep. jknoff22... The lady that remembered us gave us some long postcard looking things and some pen that comes in very handy. I don't know why but she did and we were very greatful.

Now most of our time is spend finding our way around the place. Trying to find the Tapdong Hotel took about a good hour or two. We just dropped off our stuff then headed for the 24 Hour McDonalds that was close by. We were tired and ...
Sanji, Jeju, Korea Rep. azianshrimpWe got up early and walked down to the Bridge on the River Kwai for what we hoped to be a few tourist-free shots of the bridge. When we got there, we were surprised to see the number of Thai tour groups that were already out sightseeing at 7am. Luckily we were able to get the pics we wanted without having to wait around too long. The funny thing was that once Tony ...
Thong Pha Phum, Thailand disoriented... wasn't starting. We waited a bit, and then returned to the hotel, ready for warmth and nourishment. Both were provided. Someone came to give us a better car and we ate my favorite Korean meal: samgyupsal. Basically, Korean bacon, cooked on a stove at your table. Jeju is famous for a black pig that used to eat people's poop back in the olden times. Sounds delicious, right? It was, I loved it. The restaurant was filled with hotel guests. Literally, a thirty ...
Jeju City, Korea Rep. wjrohde... and rice for breakfast, lunch and dinner seemed a bit daunting but we grew to love it! They have a weaving room in which the mothers and some of the older children design, scarves, bags and other accessories - Dada is currently trying to set up a gallery on the website so people can buy things online. The children are encouraged to be self sufficient to give them better prospects for the future - they make and sell cards and lots of the older boys are ...
Sangklaburi, Thailand willndebsWe wake up but Helena is feeling ill and Yiknur won't leave a man down, so... I decide that I can't be held down and make a quick and easy decision to go out for the day and leave them both behind! (Tough call, riiight) I rent a moped, which I nicknamed Sir Speedy and later switched his name to Thirsty after I discovered his incorrigible penchant for consuming gasoline like its going ...
Kanchanaburi, Thailand madman96... the train, old rickety clackity open air, jam packed with farangs (tourists) and Thai middle school students. Passed through countryside, mostly agricultural, sugarcane and tapioca mainly. Tapioca are small skinny lanky trees, sugarcane tall birght green with tufts like corn ont he top. Small villages, students got off. Train pretty slow, when speeds up gets to shaking. We didn't derail. Short ride, got off and whole parking lot full of big ...
Kanchanaburi, Thailand julixThe Tiger Temple, or Wat Pha Luang Ta Bua, is a Buddhist temple west of Bangkok, it was founded in 1994 as a forest temple and sanctuary for numerous wild animals, among them several tame tigers that walk around freely once a day and can be petted by people like me. According to the abbott and others associated with the temple, in 1999 the temple received the first tiger cub; it had been found by villagers and died soon after. The story ...
Kanchanaburi, Thailand dstean... the foot of Ilchulbong, we bought breakfast at the convenience store and ate it in the minbak. Then, because the landlord came to our room, we paid, but the rate was quite cheap for a double bed room. After check-out, we asked a taxi driver to take us to Sangumbri Crater, but it was still too early in the morning, the taxi driver offered us a ride to a folk village. Actually, we were supposed to stop by there from the begining, if we had time. So it was lucky. With a ...
