The countryside, in places, could almost have been England on an autumn day because the trees were all yellow, orange or burnt red and predominantly woodland, rather than forested - that lovely, light and airy autumnal look. ... out of Stari Grad. After 20 minutes she rocks up in an old white Fiat with daisies stickers all over it.

We follow her down a narrow road to the ugliest house overlooking a stunning bay. It is a 60's concrete bunker over 3 levels built in to the hill. ... we managed to drag ourselves around Starigrad for a look. It's a beautiful little town and one of the oldest in Croatia. We parked ourselves in a bar with free wifi, and enjoyed a cold drink.
