Sicuramente i furti...

How about a trip to the lake?

... celebrated the Day of the Dead (the day after Halloween) so there were remnants of decorations and bouquets of flowers strewn over the headstones and tombs. It was a little eerie, I must say, but it was neat to see a different type of cemetery. We were planning to hike the Indian Nose for sunrise the next morning so we called it an early night seeing that we had to set the alarm for 230am to catch the bus!

The Indian Nose is a popular hike in the area due ...

you take the hippies, give me nature

... that the TITLE of the movie was ¨men with guns¨ but everyone at the pirated movie stands kept pulling out movies that had men who possessed guns. ¨Man on fire¨ was a popular choice, as well as ¨Rambo¨ and ¨blackhawk down¨. Look, look! Men with Guns! Not what I was looking for. Anyhow EVERYONE had to get in on the action, before I know it there are five or six stalls worth of people feverishly searching through all the movies to find movies with men and guns. People that ...

Bring It On!

... We followed her up the hill to our house, where we met
our other sister Anna-Maria, our grandfather Alex, and our madre Maria.
The house is pretty nice, and we each get our own rooms (there's also a
South African dude named Alan staying with us). The family couldn't be
nicer, and we are really excited to begin Spanish school tomorrow (we
certainly need it). So, all in all, we definitely made the best of our
day. And as for what's to come... bring it on!

... had three rooms for use. Lynda, Nicky, Lauren and Megan went into one room, Al and I had one and Jules had his own. We took a walk down to the dock and had a picnic lunch of avo rolls whilst being accosted in every direction by Mayan ladies selling key rings, bits of fabric and various other bits and bobs. Later that afternoon we met up with Lauren and Megan for a hot chocolate and a get to know each other chat. They were from Canada and were going to ...

Exploring the city

... think of plus some you can’t. The Wal-Mart is called Hiper Paiz but it is owned by Wal-Mart and there are 2 of them the other one is in Zona 3

They have a traditional market that is not for the faint hearted you can by anything there. Too tell what kind of meat you are buying they are nice enough to put the head of the animals on display for you. It is so big I got lost in it and it took me an hour to find my way out. I don’t have many photo of it now however I will.

Chichi Market

... because that is unheard of in these parts.

Under some tin roofs in the center part of the market we had probably the best, but definitely the cheapest meal on our trip thus far. For $1.00 we were able to get a plate full of rice with tomato sauce, refried beans, cabbage salad and freshly made tortillas. It was pretty cool to watch all the ladies stand together making the tortillas as it sounded like a bunch of people clapping their hands at who know what. <br ...

Life happens when you are busy making other plans

... Pedro

Relieved and exhausted we arrived in San Pedro. The walk had been exhausting, rewarding, tiring and beautiful. The camaraderie had been fantastic, but a word of warning, the walk is tough and you have to be pretty fit to do it, something which the tour company did not mention and also was pretty expensive for the level of accommodation, food and competence of the guides. However we all had a sense of achievement and happily took over a restaurant by the lake and ...

Lake Atitlan and San Pedro La Laguna

... expected the every curve in the road looked suicidal, and they're not very gentle with weak stomachs...but we had to trust the driver! they do this route on daily basis.

Once we arrived to Sololá and took the exit to Panajachel (one of lake atitlan's main town) we were able to look at the lake for the first time.
