    ... many awards. Miyuri has lived here most of her life so she has grown up with many of these famous artisans. Next stop was the grocery store so that we could stock up for the next couple of days.

    ... 1945, it was hit by an atomic bomb sent by the U.S. which helped to end World War II. It was the second time in which the atomic bomb had been used against people. The first was Hiroshima. We went to the museum, which is nicely set up at ground zero. It was quite an experience to actually be in the spot where the bomb was most destructive.     ... we hopped onto a bus that took us to the starting point of our boat ride along the network of canals that flow through the city. It was a beautiful sunny day - perfect!     ... area was to see Yodohime Shrine, which was founded in the 6th century and is one of the two chief shrines in the Saga prefecture. There was no English at all at the site, so we have no idea what was original. I will say it was an old wooden structure and it looked ancient. It is built at the side of a river and it was an extremely peaceful area.
