Tomorrow we are heading for Land Between the Lakes outside of Paducah, Kentucky. There is a big BBQ festival going on in downtown Paducah next week. We attended this festival a couple of years ago and sampled some great food. BBQ contestant from all over the world come to compete and the food is great.
... minutes from Elkhart Karen noticed the low fuel light. OOOPS!! A check of the onboard computer told me we had about 25 miles to find gas. After some anxious moments and a glitch with the EZ Pass and a few wrong turns we pulled into a gas station. Full of fuel we completed return trip to Elkhart. It turns out that this hotel was just as nice and friendly as the one across town. We were about 14 hours of Interstate driving from home. Time to crash for the night.
... to do a few things here in spite of our late arrival. Our room for the night was about a half hour away. There was a botanical garden Karen had read about on the way so I set the GPS and headed for it. We made it just before dark. We headed for Elkhart and our room at the Holiday Inn Express North. Another very nice, clean room with a great staff who wanted to make sure we were happy. Tomorrow will be our last day headed west. Chicago or bust!!!!
After a wonderful summer spent east of the Mississippi, we are finally heading west. Everything is crammed into a 5x8 trailer, our spirits are high, and we raring to go! Our guardians for the trip are Voltron, Defender of the Universe, and a Pink Unicorn/Pegasus. And of course, MAZYWANKENOBI. So much gratitude to everyone who we visited during this enchanted summer. ... motorhome while I did some work, read and more work. Sunday, was another day of Jim recouperating, me doing a little work and researching where to go next. Terry and Jim worked on his car and Marilyn finished up some yard work. Then Marilyn and I went to store and pick up dinner.
