Cajun Christmas
Merry Christmas from Louisiana! We started the day by taking a boat tour through a swamp. Because it is winter, all of the alligators are hibernating. But we did see raccoons, vultures, egrets, and great blue herons! The swamp was very neat with the Cyprus trees and other swamp plants. Our guide was a true 'cajun hillbilly' so we got to experience a bit more of the culture ...
It's Christmas Time in New Orleans
... and balconies.
We stopped first at Cafe Beignet and ordered sandwiches, jumbalaya, and, of course, delicious beignets (a type of French doughnut) covered in powdered sugar. The jumbalaya was incredibly good; I enjoyed trying some Cajun food.

Day 1
... t notice the heat too much, but stop at a stop light or to take a butt break and it was bad. Unfortunately, almost every place we stopped for a butt break had no shade. We are going to the Outback Steakhouse for dinner tonight. It's across the street so we'll just walk. Packing and getting ready
We are all getting excited to go on our first family vacation out of state together. We can not wait to see the ocean and the white sanded beaches.
