Spent most of the day downloading pictures from camera to computer to back up hard drive . . . so only had a very short time to get out and shoot a few . . .but the pictures I did get are worth sharing . . Jackie

... desert. But as I expected, the views from the back roads were spectacular. Not to mention it had rained recently and the desert came alive with new growth. IT WAS GREEN!

... park about 15 minutes from us and who have committed to being in Yuma for 3 months. We learn some things from them and we continue to explore this city. One of the highlights for me was the fact that the road our RV park was on dead ended and you could then go straight into a large desert area without the catus or prickly bushes. We spend three glorious weeks with our family and although our priority is to spend most of it with them we manage a few evenings away to socialize with good friends.   Eventually the time arrives for us to go back south for the remainder of winter. On Jan 7 we head west  across the rockies but at Golden the roads are closed due to avalanches with low expectations for reopening before tomorrow. We turn around and drive the four hours back to Calgary to plan an alternate route ...

... my Uncle Norman in September. Other than that, our year went pretty smoothly. In September we were so blessed by finding a church home on the mountain. We can't attend during the winter due to the icy roads but we will be back in April. Dale moved into his new building and new position at Rogue Community College. We went back to Yuma so we could go back to Mexico for additional dentist work so we had time to kill between apointments. So we flew to Southern California and then drove to Yuma for another visit with Gus and several trips accross the border for the dentist visits.

... of them could really play the game but they did provide some reasonable company for 5 hours! Ended up in Yuma, AZ (which is the last place south before Mexico) after a couple of hours (100 miles) driving on the flattest, straightest and most uninhabited road yet, through the southern region of the Mojave Desert. Camped at a really noisy place, "Planes, Trains and Automobiles" - no internet, (Pay? - YUMAst be Joking!)
