Microtel Inn & Suites Philadelphia Airport

We got up early this morning at 6 am to catch our bus out to the Zurich Airport. Caught our US 711 First Class to Philadelphia at 9:30 am this morning on a Boeing 767. Had our breakfast in the First Class Lounge and then headed out to our gate. Oddly, they shuttled us out on a subway train to our gate that was on the other side of the airport.
"You can't get there from here" is a Maine phrase. I think it's a reference to the remoteness of the state. (They only recently started getting a train service to Boston) but also those words highlight the Maine accent. 'There' is pronounce "They-aaaa" etc. I first heard this saying when I was busily preparing for my trip by making essential rap playlists for all ...

All of that taken care of, we ventured down to the local shopping centre, the Neshaminy Mall. We didn't really have an agenda, just browsing. Apart from Josh, who purchased the second of three 'snap-backs' that he has in mind to buy with his holiday spending money. I am not really into shopping that much, which is probably fortunate, because if this little expedition was anything ...
... tour of Independence Hall (I have had to prebook a timed ticket to make sure we can get in.) I guess this is a kind of Mecca for Americans. Independence Hall saw the signing of the Declaration of Independence and the adoption of the US Constitution. It is really interesting but the tour rhetoric is again too sanitised and politically correct. There is lots of talk of patriotism, human rights and the birth of a nation. There is ...
... which was at 8.55pm, the time was 6pm so we had to kill time at the airport...again. Luckily we came across a bar with a guy playing piano and singing covers, he did a Huey Lewis cover of this is it at one stage which I really enjoyed. We tried the local Atlanta beer to start with but it wasn't that great and soon moved on to fruity cocktails. After a few hours at the bar we got some food in the food court, we got pizza and pasta and by the time we finished it was time to board. ...

Historical Traveler Reviews Microtel Inn & Suites Philadelphia Airport
have resevations for the end of Oct. haven;t stayed yet , but after all I have read about the reviews, sounds like I may have made a bad mistake by booking there, hope to be wrong.
If you are stuck staying at this hotel prepare yourself. First off if you follow MapQuest directions to this place you'll be driving around in circles. If you call for help they don't know how to get you there either. That is of course if they even answer the phone.
I was attracted to this place because of it's proximity to the airport, and low price. Big mistake! The staff was rude upon check in. The water pipes had burst and the lower 2' of wall in the whole reception area was torn out. The room was filthy. The phone had some kind of a substance covering it, so that none of us wanted to use it. Maybe this is intentional, to keep you from calling the front desk and complaining. There was hair on the sheets and in the bathroom. Also I could see through the sheets and the pillows were about 2" thick. The walls seemed to be made of cardboard as we were awakened every time people passed through the hallway outside our room. The continental breakfast was pretty rough too. We took a look and decided to only eat the items that were sealed in plastic. The juice machine was leaking water onto the middle of the floor, creating a huge puddle with a rag laying in the middle of it. All in all, this place is a dump. I wouldnt stay there again if it was for free.
Microtel below any standard
It is one of the lousiest hotels I ever experienced in this country. Poorly maintained, filthy, and just not the place to stay. Unfortunately, I had, since I had no reservation, and all other hotels in the area were booked. The only positive thing to say is the wireless Internet, which works fine. All negative items would burst this comment box!
I stayed here on a stormy night after many flights were cancelled. My check-in experience:
Nice Location/Nice Staff......
Super convenient for park and fly. Staff is very nice but rooms are not up to par. Continental breakfast in the AM but nothing great. Early vans fill up quickly, so don't be late.
Housekeeping staff is now subcontracted and tends to be a little rude and will try to rush you out of your room in order to leave early.
Rooms are not as clean as they have been, so management needs to pay attention.
It can be a little raucous on weekends with groups, so try to get a quiet room. Overall, great value but don't have high expectations.
We used this hotel because it was close to the airport and we had an early flight. We checked in late and left early, a total of about 9 hours. From our experience, I believe this might have been considered to be an extended stay at this place. The exterior of the hotel is OK, but the room we had was the filthiest room we've ever seen. The bedspread was thoroughly stained and dirty, and had several cigarette burns through it. When we removed it we found that the blanket was covered with an estimated 50 long hairs that almost seemed to be woven into the surface. After we removed about 10 we gave up. We removed the blanket and found that there were also a few hairs on the sheet, but we were able to brush them off. I would venture a guess that the bed might have been changed about a week ago, and the last visitor had a collie, or something similar, in bed with them. The heater thermostat didn't work so we had a choice of no heat or too much heat. Because the heater was covered with a thick coating of grime we chose no heat. We decided to sleep with our clothes on, and covered the pillows with tissues.
GREAT VALUE FOR THE PRICE!
Stayed prior to a early Saturday morning flight to Las Vegas. The rooms are plain and non-descript, however, seemed to be very clean. We showed up early for the shuttle (highly recommended as it is first-come, first-serve) and made it in plenty of time for a 7:30 AM flight. Upon our return we used the courtesy phone and were picked up in a short period of time. Our car wouldn't start and AAA was going to take hours to show. One of the desk clerks found someone to jumpstart us and get us on our way saving hours of waiting time. Considering the price of the room is no more than a weeks parking we found it much more convenient than driving in so early in the morning and having to find parking and get to the airport in time to clear security. For the price you can't go wrong.
