The is no denying the calendar: winter is rapidly approaching. My tent and sleeping-bag are tucked away in the trunk of my car and haven't been used for more than a week. But I have been blessed with wonderful sunshine when driving with the top down from Los Alamos up north - and back - to Cheyenne. Here's the route I chose:
I left Los Alamos on Wednesday and headed northwest to Taos (still in New Mexico). It's a very scenic ...
... show, I and the other winners went to the Macdonald Bookstore to fetch our prizes, but the young people in the shop did not know what we were talking about and the owner could not be reached on the phone. So, just for the fun of it, I returned the next day to buy some maps and also to inquire about the prize, which turned out to be a car sticker with the text: 'CowboyBrad.com'! Go check out Brad for yourselves! ...
... many that makes, but this trip has been quite CAPITAL! Hah! We are grabbing a quick pick-me-up and then we'll be on our way to Fort Collins, CO to see our much missed friends Chris and April Lindgren. We may or may not go skiing; we're pretty worn out. However, being in ski country and never having been, really does make me what to try out my ski skills.
... to get excited about.
Highlights of our 'day' trip to Laramie was the Lincoln Memorial at a service area on the I-80 on our way there and a brief visit to Vedauwoo - a National Park area for camping and walking just off the I-80 - on the way back.
We did visit a couple of places that are worth a mention. We drove 80 miles south to Boulder in Colarado (yes, you guessed it, so that Kevin could mark off another State on the spreadsheet).
... Didn't make much difference though, because with the WalMart sale beginning at 10pm rather than the industry standard midnight, by 8:30 the vast car park of Sam' Club was also full. We got hemmed in by poorly parked cars, all the while watching people narrowly avoid hitting with or being hit by speeding cars. All in the pursuit of deals. DEALS!!!
