Happy 4th of July! Always seem to help the Americans celebrate their day! Off to ziplining through the Great Smoky Mountains. Beautiful views. Ziplining was a great experience! Met a guard chicken! ... The trail crossed the creek above the falls and there was a very steep scramble down to the base, made even worse by the wet rocks. But we managed to get down safely, get a couple of pictures, and then climb back up. Luckily, some exposed roots on the wet rocks provided a handhold to climb up. ... hike with the small children. But once we arrived to the waterfall, they did enjoy getting to put their feet in the cool water.
For me, visiting Cades Cove was the highlight of the trip. I can just imagine how life was when there were people living in this area.
Another side trip was to Mingus falls. It is really just outside the park, but is worth the short hike to this waterfall.
