... It probably took more gas to find the place than the money we got for the cans, but it was another adventure. This was a gigantic recycling plant, which I will send info about to our local recycling guru, Madonna. Altogether, our month's worth of cans netted $2.02. Anybody who knows us well, knows that I drink 4-6 cans a day of diet coke, and John limits himself to one beer per day and part of my coke., so ...
... for that not so fresh feeling if certain urges strike us while not at our hotel room.
We have a roll of quarters for the laundry and I have made 12 little envelopes with $4 in each for the mouse-keeping staff that clean our room every day. Isn't it so cute that they call it mouse-keeping? I have three little storage boxes, two of which are collapsible and a collapsible laundry hamper and a tote bag for the ...
Travel 30 miles down the Skyline Drive Road to Big Meadows campground. It is an older campground than Mathews Arm and not as nice. The campsites are more open and not as large. Hard to find a site to fit a 32 foot Motorhome! The one thing this campground has are showers which we dont use. We settle in and read for the afternoon then walk around the campground!
It gets windy and cold later so no fire tonight. Rains in the night!
Leave DC and head West to the Skyline Drive in Shenandoah National Park. This is a 100 mile north south drive on top of the Shenandoah Mountain range. You are up at around 3,000 feet the whole time so it can get cool this time of year! As we enter the park we see that 2 of the 4 parks are already FULL and it is only 12:30, we realize it is Saturday! As you drive along the ...
... watch the Washington Nationals against some other team from Miami. We had seats with a really good veiw of the field. However, we were right in the sun and the heat index was 103 F (39 C)! So, it was very hot! It was a great day and to top it off, the nationals won!
Today we went shopping and bought lots of nice bits! Over the next few days we willl be hanging out around the house.
How has this hotel rated in the past?
I reserved a two queen bed room and when I got there, they told me that they were "overbooked" and that they would put me in a suite for the same price. I appreciated the upgrade, but if my daughter and grandkids were with me as expected, it would have not been satisfactory. I would go there again, but only if I am by myself.
