After exiting the ferry we did not know exactly how far we would be able to go before nightfall. The ferry was about an hour and a half delayed so we pulled out at about 3:30pm and were aiming for Mazatlan over 300 miles away. It soon became clear that we won't make it to Mazatlan before nightfall, even with Jess driving too fast (in my opinion)... we had to find a hotel in a town called Culiacan, which is the state capital of Sinaloa. Again we were hot, hungry and the butts were hurting! Thi...

Ok I know there is going to miscommunications between people but this one was big. I'm not going to go into detail but a 3 hour bus rid to hang out with some friends for the night turned into a 10 hour ride jammed in a suv with 7 others to go to a WEDDING! Ok, I don't have any nice cloths with me and I wasn't planning on 10 hours in a car. At least I got some free food.
Culiacan, Mexico macrosse1... out of her hand by a bold turkey and jumped up screaming. The bellows of a bull across the road grew more animated when a herd of cows were slowly led around the corner and he trotted after them, visibly excited. My last view of this place was of a placid cow half-heartedly trying to shake the delighted toro off her behind, amongst guffaws of ´pinche toro cochino´ from the women who swear more often and eloquently than most men.
Guasave, Northern Mexico, Mexico lisaviro1981... away on the tequila. After the dowdiness of Egyptian women, seeing the amount of effort these ladies had put into their dress was truly outstanding. Their appearance laid testament to hours spent in the hairdressers, makeupartists, manicurist and brand new silken dresses adorned perfectly gym toned and buffed bodies. I felt like we were at the Mexican Soap Star awards and significantly dowdy in comparison in a faded dress i´d ...
Guasave, Northern Mexico, Mexico lisaviro1981... him to the staton and he gave it back. he then started saying something about how we wouldn't have to pay any money here or in town and asked for something else instead. we had no idea what it was he wanted but eventually he asked for $5 and let us go. that night on the beach in el dorado i felt a bit unnerved as we were very isolated and miles from anywhere and people kept coming for short periods. we imagined intimate encounters and dodgy drug deals and tried to sleep.
El dorado, Mexico 2monkeysAfter driving all day, we arrived at a small town named... Costa Rica, definitely something to be confused here! City of Costa Rica in Mexico! We were looking for the road to the campsite and wound up on progressively smaller... bumpy..., dirt roads and we eventually got stuck on the rail road track... with the travel-trailer. We discovered some damage to the bumper (a little crooked ...
Culiacan, Mexico bohemianeug... villages I find people staring with interest, and the ones that do speak english stand around, and i can tell they're just busting to ask me questions. Some quite funny, like "why do you not have kids!" haha. Most just curious about my travels about where I'm going and where I've been, and most of all, why I am doing this.
Culiacan, Mexico clintonb... rocks but they didnt look like diving rocks. The boat did have a glass bottom though and half way through a little chap swam underneath and fed fish with a lychi fruit for our enjoyment. I wanted to spear them all but couldnt really just jump in and do that what with all the kids watching. Gonna upload a few photos with this update as well so enjoy. Oh i think im going to grow a beard as well as i realised the other day ive never had one.
Acapulco, Mexico chalk... finding the only open trailer park was not difficult, with the help of 'ontheroadin.com' and their excellent maps. However the park was locked up for the night. Well, not quite.... the gate was only chained, not locked. In we went, and a restful, rooster infested night was enjoyed.
Los Mochis, Mexico ddgfraser... hello bus. I arrived in Los Mochis in time for a meal and opportunity to try a new beer (Texacate), buy my train ticket, find a hotel room (following my loney planet guide and opting for a more basic place than previously as this is just a stop over. Place was basic indeed, but good enough and still in hotel class - not yet made it to dormitories in hostels. Managed to book a taxi for 5 in the morning in broken spanish and got a short ...
