I wanted to spend more time in Athens, but because of all the problems going on, plans kind of got extremely disorganized and we went to Athens on a whim. <br><br>We basically ended up in a bar and grabbed dinner at The Grit (famous for vegetarian cuisine), while briefly cruising around town. <br><br>I felt sad and sentimental that I didn't get to tour it more, but then again I felt relief; I have another university to call my own, for I am also a NYU graduate. ;) <br>

... sucks. I actually have an interview with the Sylvan in Athens on Monday, so wish me luck! And my first graduate class is on Monday, so it should be an exciting day. Hopefully I won't be the only twenty-something in the room. ha ha.<br><br>Love,<br>Ash

We woke up and ate our last hotel continental breakfast. Then we let the kids swim in the pool as promised. We had the pool all to ourselves and the kids loved it. We only had a 6 hour drive left so we stayed there until checkout at 11 am. The kids were great in the car - watching ...

... trees. <br><br>We got to the Days Inn in north Charleston, unpacked and watched the Airforce display team just a few metres above the hotel (it was right next to an Airforce base). Luckily the planes stopped flying in the evening.<br><br>Took the car out to Daniels Island, not knowing what we'd find, looking for a restaurant. We found a pirate themed restaurant - Queen Anne's revenge. There was much pirate activity in Charleston in the 17th-18th century apparently.

Its snowing and sleeting outside. Its the 17th &amp; I'm still packing. Its dark and cold and late &amp; I still havent been to sleep. I finally get everythig loaded into the truck &amp; take a shower and hit the bed for a few winks wondering if it'll do something crazy like freeze. No matter. As long as I can get out of my driveway all I gotta do is head south &amp; I'll come out of it eventually. Right?

After visiting the Montgomery downtown, we farewelled Sarah and drove to Athens, north east of Atlanta, Georgia to stay with Barbara's cousin, Terry Centner, his wife, Mary Ann and children Ann and John. Terry greeted us with wine on their deck looking at the forest that backs their woodland property. He drove us into town to have a chicken dinner at their Presbyterian Church.
