... room to get to the 'Jack in the Box' near to the motel. Everyone knows the best cure for a hangover is a shed load of greasy food and I duly obliged. About 10lbs of meat, 3 gallons of coke and a million chips later, I was done and feeling a whole lot better.

In the afternoon, I decided to go back to those shops that I had only been able to peer into yesterday. This time though, I pulled out all the stops and went on a bit of a ...

Plus, of course, helpful rangers all full of knowledge and pride in their park. Great gifties and t-shirts to commemorate your stay are available for purchase.

Andy and I chose this park because it is only about 30 miles east of Atlanta where I was taking a plane to California to visit my son ...
Rutledge, Georgia, United States jodieandandyI wanted to spend more time in Athens, but because of all the problems going on, plans kind of got extremely disorganized and we went to Athens on a whim.

We basically ended up in a bar and grabbed dinner at The Grit (famous for vegetarian cuisine), while briefly cruising around town.

I felt sad and sentimental that I didn't get to tour it more, but then again I felt relief; I have another university to call my own, for I am also a NYU graduate. ;)
Athens, Georgia, United States erinkoval... sucks. I actually have an interview with the Sylvan in Athens on Monday, so wish me luck! And my first graduate class is on Monday, so it should be an exciting day. Hopefully I won't be the only twenty-something in the room. ha ha.

Love,
Ash
Athens, Georgia, United States ashleyfrancesWe woke up and ate our last hotel continental breakfast. Then we let the kids swim in the pool as promised. We had the pool all to ourselves and the kids loved it. We only had a 6 hour drive left so we stayed there until checkout at 11 am. The kids were great in the car - watching ...
Bogart, Georgia, United States jspringe... trees.

We got to the Days Inn in north Charleston, unpacked and watched the Airforce display team just a few metres above the hotel (it was right next to an Airforce base). Luckily the planes stopped flying in the evening.

Took the car out to Daniels Island, not knowing what we'd find, looking for a restaurant. We found a pirate themed restaurant - Queen Anne's revenge. There was much pirate activity in Charleston in the 17th-18th century apparently.
Athens, Georgia, United States mumnjulieIts snowing and sleeting outside. Its the 17th & I'm still packing. Its dark and cold and late & I still havent been to sleep. I finally get everythig loaded into the truck & take a shower and hit the bed for a few winks wondering if it'll do something crazy like freeze. No matter. As long as I can get out of my driveway all I gotta do is head south & I'll come out of it eventually. Right?
Athens, Georgia, United States matt.richards... boat holding up whatever he could, then he came back to the RV acting like a wet hen! Once I found out that he was OK and nothing but his dignity was lost, I helped him lay out his money and other things he had in his pockets to dry, etc. He then proceeded to pack up the boat and put it back on top of the Jeep. He still needed to take the outboard motor to a shop to service it before he can use it again. Thank goodness this happened in fresh water ...
Greensboro, Georgia, United States chictravelers2After visiting the Montgomery downtown, we farewelled Sarah and drove to Athens, north east of Atlanta, Georgia to stay with Barbara's cousin, Terry Centner, his wife, Mary Ann and children Ann and John. Terry greeted us with wine on their deck looking at the forest that backs their woodland property. He drove us into town to have a chicken dinner at their Presbyterian Church. Supper is provided weekly as part of their youth activities. Afterwards Terry drove ...
Athens and Roswell, Georgia, United States heycoAthens, GA 12/01/01 - I had certain preconceived notions about Athens before I got there. You see my mother attended school there for a semester back in the 60s and at the time I guess the attitude was a little racist down in those parts. Yeah, she said she met people who really thought Jewish people had horns and the whole segregationist movement was in full effect. So when I first got into Athens I was a little apprehensive of what the ...
