We left early in anticipation of a long drive, however, with only 140 odd miles to travel, it shouldn't take too long, right? Well maybe if you drive straight there and don't stop at every second place like us... And take wrong turns here, there and everywhere.
Not much to tell about the drive, except that we had great scenery, managed to …
Late start. We are still learning a routine. Foggy and cool but Tori still went for a swim. Breakfast became lunch and we made a quick trip to the store and for gas. We are going to chain restaurants but not the kind with drive-thrus. The day became progressively warmer, topping out at ...
Our first day on the road. Tori wants to stay on interstates and close to big cities. It is a challenge to my usual driving style. We did manage to get through both Baltimore and Washington DC with only a minor tie-up. Stopped and ate at chain restaurants. Not my usual style but this is Tori's trip. Our next destination is Arlington, Texas. Tori has a friend there.
We left Charlotte around 8am with our shortest drive yet, ~7 hours if straight through. The drive up I77 has been beautiful through the mountains but the kids had a rough morning, they were probably tired. We stopped for lunch in Roanoke Virginia and checked out the second biggest man made star and a great overlook of Roanoke valley! Afternoon has been better and less than 160 miles to Baltimore! Food and view was great. As the rain finally calmed down enough, we booked it to the car. It was a tent party after that. Tales From the Crypt episodes on the laptop and white wine with cooler ice…(we know how to party)
We promised ourselves that we would check ...

My partner and I had a long drive the day we lobbed into Harrisonburg for a one-nighter before hitting the Skyline Drive the next day and this little place was a real delight to rock up to! The room was terrific, the staff were very pleasant, parking is free and so is breakfast (not full american but they have a waffle maker, muffins, coffee, juices etc.). I wouldn't hesitate in staying here again!
