    ... and embassies of the world. We drove down beautiful tree-lined boulevards and saw the huge Real Madrid soccer stadium, we passed fancy shops and an even an ancient Egyptian temple that was a gift to Spain from the Egyptian government for helping redirect the Nile river...or something.
    Then we got off the bus and visited the Royal Palace built by Charles III in the 1700s. It was amazing!!! So beautiful ...

    ... the famous highway 70 to Denver. We stopped to see the beginnings of the mighty Colorado river snaking beside us. We also took a few detours. We stopped in the ski town of Vail and just drove around. Since it's early May, the ski slopes were closed and the town felt abandoned.     Our day on the road started at 6:45, with 769 Kms under our belt already, in a very fresh -24 degrees Celsius. Our day entailed four states: Michigan, Indiana, Illinois and Iowa including 100 Kms of the worst highway surface conditions either of us have ever endured (yes, even worse than Port Elgin Christmas of 1984 or Grand Forks, ND conference champs of 2006) and there was not even any 'active' weather.
