I made my reservations last summer for 2013 Bike Week. My room was ready and clean when I arrived on 3-10-13.

The room had two queen beds, mini refrigerator, microwave, safe (cost extra to use), coffee maker, and hair dryer. The ice maker was in the lobby.

For the people who know me the hair dryer was not needed (lol). The only amenity I put to use was the refrigerator and it kept the drinks very cold.

The air conditioning and heat both worked fine as well as the shower.

I stayed here in October 2010 for Biketoberfest and I was pleased with my stay then as well.

I would recommend Microtel Inn and Suites at Palm Coast.

    A Day at the Beach

... across the sand I assume it is just a safety precaution. The sand on the beach was very flat and was hard packed. It was almost as hard as the pavement and your vehicle barely leaves tire marks in the sand.

We drove about half a mile and found a spot that looked just fine. That is, there wasn't anyone else within about 100 yards. Not that we’re antisocial or anything, but why not have your own little world to live in, right? ...

... getting on your hands and knees.

We continued around the inside of the track until we reached the start/finish line where we stopped to get out. Here, the track is banked 18 degrees. Although it doesn’t look like much, when we got out to walk up the track, it was very difficult to do. You don’t get the sensation on TV, that’s for sure. For the most part, the track looks flat, except for the two major turns. In fact, none of ...

... the beach and Cheryl decided that she would go into the water a little ways then throw the ball out for Harley to retrieve, off his leash of course. We did that for a while. The water was pretty warm and comfortable. This area is where the river and ocean meet. As we continued to walk closer to the river section we noticed the water was getting cooler and cooler.

We saw the Ponce Inlet Lighthouse across the inlet. We also saw a parasail and ...

Finally, I want to thank my lovely and lovable wife (and alter ego) for the many contributions and sacrifices she made during this trip, especially when yours truly was under the weather, and functioning at less than full-speed. She was always there for us, each and every step along the way, brightening our days immeasurably with her sense of humor, kind heart, and ...
