... we stopped for cheese, and we stopped in Sparta Wi home of the bicycle AND the fiberglass graveyard. It was an interesting adventure to say the least. Lots of fun though and plenty of giggles. Today was a drive day so we got up early and packed up and hit the road. The drive all up was about 700 km so a big day in a van towing a trailer. It was a pretty uneventful drive with a couple of stops at gas stations along the way. Then were went to New Ulm, which was settled by the Germans. It has a Glockenspiel in the centre. Then on to Sleepy Eye where we saw the house they used to live, and saw the monumemt to 'Sleepy Eye', a local chief of the Soiux tribe, whom the town is named for.
We ate dinner at the local restaurant and Grace and Carroll met several people they knew who were surprised to see them. We were introduced as their son Michael's New Zealand ...
... also lots of bites -- vicious ones that swelled up and were liquid filled next day. Had 5 bratwurst to grill, which was done using bricquets and outer part of alcohol stove to hold Tom's box grill. Made 4 brats on that, cooked fifth on skewer while eating the 4. Also fried the curried cabbage, which had also thawed. All a success, and plenty of heat left in fire so roasted the 'B Loin' which had dripped blood all over inside of cooler. ...
... then hook up and drive two hours back to Mankato where the RV place is so that first thing tomorrow morning they can fix stuff and we can head home. We are, however, staying in a beautiful RV park and had we not been so anxious to leave Minnesota, we might have contemplated spending another day here. But alas, we have a long journey home.
