This is excellent value for the money just when I was about to give up on mid-priced accommodations. We have a suite that could accommodate another couple on a sofa bed; a kitchenette with table for four, microwave, sink and bar fridge; desk and bed, all within a clean, well laid out design. There are at least a couple of chain restaurants within walking distance - Ruby Tuesday and Cracker Barrel. Although the temperatures were not conducive to swimming, there was also an outdoor pool. The staff accommodated our every need. The best so far!

We left the dodgy Days Inn after a less than satisfactory breakfast - juice and oatmeal, as the only alternative was toast and who knows about the coffee. I swear I saw a cockroach scuttle across the breakfast room floor. I had disgraced myself since the lip on the Styrofoam bowl broke on me when I removed the bowl from the microwave and spilled …

... it takes all sorts. By now we were cooking, had to be over 90F so decided to come back to our local bar 'Hurricanes' and spend the afternoon there having cocktails, and listening to the calypso music. LA, Terri, Eric, Shania, Dino and Connie then joined us and we spent the afternoon chatting and enjoying the music sheltered from the baking sun. We were both tired so came back for a power nap before heading back into town with ...

With a slight bit of trepidation and a tad heavier portion of stress, I realized that today is 3 calendar months to the start of my huge summer sojourn. I'm extremely excited as time grows closer, but I also feel a heightened urgency to get plans and itineraries set and defined. And to completely wreck a lyric by Bob Dylan, the more time goes by, the more they are a' changing.

On the way out of Surfside we stopped for a quick round of golf at Tupelo Bay executive course and discovered it was the same course we played at last time we were in the area but much nicer weather and less crowded. We spent a wild wild New Year's Eve in a motel in Jacksonville! It was so wild I don't even have any pictures. Then back on the road to visit Nancy and Jim ...

One of the great hidden gems of the Disney parks in recent years has been the way that they have used emerging technologies to create new interactive family experiences. For a while around Epcot's World Showcase visitors could hear the sound of beeping Kimunicators from the secret agents solving mysteries alongside Kim Possible and Ron Stopable. This particular game has been updated to feature everybody's favourite duck billed mammal Perry, or should I say his ...
