My partner and I had a long drive the day we lobbed into Harrisonburg for a one-nighter before hitting the Skyline Drive the next day and this little place was a real delight to rock up to! The room was terrific, the staff were very pleasant, parking is free and so is breakfast (not full american but they have a waffle maker, muffins, coffee, juices etc.). I wouldn't hesitate in staying here again!

... to a ridgeline above the creek, the only steep part of the trail. There was the 29-foot cascade, though it was barely a drip and then a short ways later, we came to a cliff overlook for Overall Run Falls. Well, we were supposed to be able to see the waterfall from here, but there wasn’t much to see. Due to the dry conditions of the summer, the waterfall was barely a trickle. But the hike ...
... checked in, ate and Tori swam for an hour. We are still fairly disorganized about packing and unpacking so I am beginning to feel more comfortable about being seen in public in my PJ's. Tori has no problem with it. We are supposed to be having a super moon but it looks fairly normal to ...
Our first day on the road. Tori wants to stay on interstates and close to big cities. It is a challenge to my usual driving style. We did manage to get through both Baltimore and Washington DC with only a minor tie-up. Stopped and ate at chain restaurants. Not my usual style but this is Tori's trip. Our next destination is Arlington, Texas. Tori has a friend there.
We left Charlotte around 8am with our shortest drive yet, ~7 hours if straight through. The drive up I77 has been beautiful through the mountains but the kids had a rough morning, they were probably tired. We stopped for lunch in Roanoke Virginia and checked out the second biggest man made star and a great overlook of Roanoke valley! Afternoon has been better and less than 160 miles to Baltimore! So far 1610 miles + (we started the odometer in Brenham, TX) and 9 ...
... tasty. We got chatting to our super nice waitress Ashley who is studying Elementary Education at the local college. Ashley seemed excited to hear that Leslie was from California and wanted to hear all about the Californian dream, she seemed less impressed about my Britishness. seems weird not to be the center of the conversation (I don't like it). All in all a pretty bad day for me.
Hopefully tomorrow will be better.
