My partner and I had a long drive the day we lobbed into Harrisonburg for a one-nighter before hitting the Skyline Drive the next day and this little place was a real delight to rock up to! The room was terrific, the staff were very pleasant, parking is free and so is breakfast (not full american but they have a waffle maker, muffins, coffee, juices etc.). I wouldn't hesitate in staying here again!

We drove to the Ridgeline Drive today but we were fogged out. Boo!
We decided to try again tomorrow.
We headed back to camp and did a few more floats down the river (some phone photos were put on FB already). I love doing that!
Then, very suddenly, the skies just opened up and within less than two minutes the berm behind us was washing through our campsite. All of the camp sights were under water in no time!
I have never seen rain this hard this ...
I drove into Charlottesville today to pick up some things and let me tell you...the view along Skyline Drive was A-MAZ-ING!!! I really wish Mike was with me to see this!
When I got back we decided to do a float down the river behind our camp sight. So much fun!!

So we quickly ate our lunch and continued on Saddle Trail, down from the summit and past Byrds Nest 1 Shelter and Old Rag Shelter. At Old Rag Shelter, we had a quick bathroom break at the privy and just as we were leaving, it finally started to rain. ...
... were just behind us had been attacked by yellow jackets. Fortunately, Sandy had some hydrocortisone cream in her bag to share with these people to help alleviate their stings. Back at the fire road, we turned right and hiked back to the parking area. We then headed back to camp, but it was still a little early, so Sandy and I headed to Skyline Drive to check out some of the overlooks. We went north and stopped at Rattlesnake ...
... tasty. We got chatting to our super nice waitress Ashley who is studying Elementary Education at the local college. Ashley seemed excited to hear that Leslie was from California and wanted to hear all about the Californian dream, she seemed less impressed about my Britishness. seems weird not to be the center of the conversation (I don't like it). All in all a pretty bad day for me.
Hopefully tomorrow will be better.
