... So, the washboard and an empty jug, along with a stick and a string attached to a metal tub turned upside down, became the backwoods answer to Saturday Night at Carnegie Hall.
Sunday we headed to West Virginia. Why West Virginia? West Virginia became the 35th state in 1863, when it seceded from Virginia and joined the North during the Civil War. Jens brought with him an original 35 star flag that was the official US ...

What a gorgeous day. 1 rain delay for about 30 minutes in the late afternoon. Didn't try to ride in the downpour, see pictures. Another 750km day, leaving about 600 km to finish off on Sunday. Could be very good but could be very bad.

Facts: 4 day work week they say server in Israel, but for Americans it's bus boy full time (split shifts: approx. 85% do half their program in this position). Volunteer 1-6 hours a week which could be fun or not you have no say in it. You may be teaching English (Teaching english was rewarding) or cleaning up an animal shelter. You have no say in which hotel chain you receive (negotiate ...

... without incident and pulled into the beach which was our lunch spot for the afternoon. Canyon Doors is really pretty, I think one of the prettiest spots on the Lower Gauley. As we ate a water snake swam up to us and Scott and the boys had a fun time trying to catch it on their paddles.

After lunch we continued through class III Junkyard rapid. I somehow managed to get flipped in some small hole but combat rolled anyway. You can see some video of the ...
