... up the trailer is Oak Mountain State Park in Pelham, AL -- only 116 miles from Huntsville. We're here for 2 days -- it'll probably take us that long to put things away in the trailer and get organized. Our campsite overlooks the Double Oak Lake with trees (and lots of birds) all around. The weather has been in the high-70's during the day and mid-50's at night -- we're certainly not going to complain about ...

Menu Item: Big Bad Breakfast Skillet with a Buttermilk Pecan Pancake on the side

Notes: I had them leave the Big Bad Bacon out of the skillet and put it on the side so I could taste it by itself. The skillet has ham, sausage, onions, hash, & 3 scrambled eggs all tossed together and topped with cheese.

Train to NOLA

... seats in coach and enjoyed the scenery of the countryside from Birmingham through Mississippi until the sun went down. We arrived in New Orleans around 7:20 pm.

Note: the train has passenger/sleeper cars if you prefer privacy. They are a bit more expensive and small, but may be worth it, depending on the distance traveled or personal preference. The trains also have dining cars if you don't want to pack your own cooler.

We were set to leave early Sunday morning on a road trip to celebrate Andy's birthday in Charleston. We reserved the Andrew Pinckney Inn as well as Circa 1886 for Andy's birthday dinner. The only thing we hadn't settled on was a walking tour of Charleston.
