Today we drove back to Rankin County, Mississippi, for the final search of our trip. After a trip to the library, which has a vast genealogical section and a very helpful librarian- we realized that this is a place where we could easily spend a week! Started our road trip today. We drove out of Dallas towards Jackson, Mississippi stopping along the way for lunch at Catfish Village that serves tradition southern food. We had more than our fill of deep fried EVERYTHING.

Today we are going to visit the museum of civil rights before checking into our Best ...

We walked to a nearby shopping area and ate at a restaurant called "Newk's." We shared a half salad and a 10" thin crust pizza. It was very good. For those of you who like to frequent Druid Hills, their website states they have a restaurant there, now.

      Tomorrow, we head for Birmingham...

... Native Americans (the Quapaw). Today, not much (ok, really nothing) is left. The site lost its significance when Little Rock was founded and the river changed its course. There were a couple of surprise wildlife sightings: an alligator in the bayou and an armadillo that wasn't road kill!! While we understand & appreciate the history of this site, it's a little frustrating to not have any reconstructed buildings or foundation remnants to ...
