We got up late after a fitful sleep! Headed off to the Nasa Space Center. Amazing history of space travel and lots of fun things for the kids. A real live space shuttle on site, gives perspective on its immense size and the how astronauts can make there way to space. Precision is a must! What a great day! When I planned this trip, this particular journey gave me all sorts of problems in finding anything, Civil War, Trail of Tears museums etc open on a Monday. They all seemed to be open Tues to Sat. So decided to just investigate Alabama and go cross country to Atllanta.

Left Chattanooga and my Satnav informed me that I would arrive in Fort Payne, Alabama, about 17 minutes earlier than the current time showed. Obviously, went back and forward in time today. ...

We did solve another mystery. We discovered that the "pirates" we saw upriver in Chattanooga were in fact the Nina and the Pinta and they had followed us to Guntersville. ... messes with your boat props but provides great fishing. We saw more fishermen here than any previous lakes. Luckily, the lake was so wide we did not have to slow down and reduce wake like we usually do. There were so many water birds along the way, with some flocks stretching for miles. They seemed to enjoy the plants as well as the fish. The mountains were not nearly as tall as the ones we left behind but were still impressive. ...
