I'm sitting in the Charlotte airport on my 8 hour layover, drinking a cold beer and reflecting on the last 10 years. This trip is far and beyond anything I've ever done before, and it is really exciting. Especially since I still don't have half of it planned yet!

I'm going to keep my eyes, mind, and heart open and have a great time!

After the break Ellie Sparks, heretofore just a voice on the phone to me, shared insight based on her personal experiences as a climate advocate in a Red state (rural Virginia farm country). Before I share her advice, I feel the need to comment on my expectations of Ellie based on phone conversations Linda and I had with her prior to the Monterey chapter formation. Some of you may have been on other phone conversations with ...

... Momba decided to take a poop. Alan didn’t have a bag and asked if I had one so I took the bag off of Harley’s leash to give him. He kept walking and I said, "So I guess I have to pick it up, too, huh?" Well, I guess when I offered the bag he figured it was a full service offer. He said, “That’s what uncles do.” Yeah, right. It was tough to leave Zack's place on Wednesday. We will not see him for approximately three months. Sheila was especially sad and cried until we got to Burlington. It is really hitting home that we although Zack is grown, it is hard to leave him after all these years. I'm sure we will keep in touch with him throughout our trip.

    Happy Trails,
