Day 296-302 Cooroy - LAVIS'

... evening and the boys went to check out the closest pub on the guise of picking up some more meat for the BBQ. Leaving us girls to cook whilst the kids played in the pool and enjoyed being in comfortable surrounds of a house.

Our first night was technically a house warming party and opp shop best regale. Greg and Matt were still and always are in their opp shop gear, but eventually I and Lori changed into our dresses also. No-one ...

... round over our heads and a large saltwater croc was brought out to be fed at very close quarters. The day absolutely whizzed by (culminating in a great tour of the on-site wildlife animal hospital), and before we knew it, it was time to go home and Gemma and Elise arrived to pick us up.

We spent the evening with the two ladies and Adam at the local surf club for a very enjoyable dinner and a few games of Keno – which the whole country ...

... right choice" in electing Obama and that we are now potentially on the road to recovery. a few people i talked to were actually surprized and therefore impressed, that we could come together like we did and elect a black president to office. they were also hopeful he could bring Americans the relief they needed and hopefully get the country back in working order again. many expressed their hope that we would eventually resume our role ...

Nuts About Ginger!

... by advising us that it was free to camp. It wasn't! We forked out $15 for an unpowered site, with bathroom facilities. I went to the toilet block once! I swear to God I saw a Redback Spider! That was it for us both! "Phill, where's my she-wee?" (a contraption designed to fit over girlie bits enabling us to wee like a man standing up!) Poor Sonic had a few golden showers from us both, for the duration of the evening! Bless! Hee hee! xxx

Our Journey in Australia begins!

... to start traveling and we thought about staying one more night at the relatives, but stubborn as we are, (heh heh no comment Corcorans!) we decided to press on. We made it over Mt. Nebo and to Summerset Dam and our first camping site with no problems at all! Camping was supposed to cost us 20 dollars per night, but the place was deserted and we arrived late, so if someone was collecting money we never saw them and that was fine with us :) ( we ...

So here I am. There really isn't too much to say. I've been getting to know the area more and more and busy with things I need to do. The temperature has cooled off a bit - although it is still shorts and tee shirt weather. It is not really the "sunshine coast" as the area's name would suggest as it is cloudy lately. In fact the weather is dead strange and even if there are dark clouds hanging overhead it doesn't rain and clears up eventually. And if it is ...

... is a short walk from Raffles and not far from Chinatown. After check in (John and I had a double, and Erin and Nellie shared a twin room down the corridor), John and I walked down to Chinatown (quiet, because it was still before 10.00am), then back to collect the girls (after I'd bought a pair of shoes, because all I had was winter-weight boots, and it was hot and muggy in Singapore), then we all walked up to the Little India area where we hit a seething mass of people! Had ...

Last Day of Volunteering - Night 30

... actually Rex) the sleepy Korean guy. He reaches in his jacket and pulls out two beers for the walk home. A fitting end to my volunteering days at CVA. Not having an alarm and not trusting myself to wake up in time, I took my mattress and sleeping bag out to the covered porch, trusting the sun and the birds to wake me in time for my bus the next morning. What I Learned Today: Giving myself a curfew is a colossal waste of time.
