... maybe he was thinking of his own boat in Gippsland, and how small the Tambo River is in comparison and King Lake although big also pales by comparison.
As we strolled back towards the car the sounds of a merry-go-round drew us to investigate. It was in an open sided pavilion I guess you'd call it. Memories of show grounds and fairs invoked happy smiles of our long ago youth!

... with good company rather than a motel. Jo, his wife and adorable kid settled us in before we all went out to the local Mexican restaurant for dinner. He told us how he had set up a community of around 20 people who all live together in the same neighbourhood and share the houses. They renovate them all together and try to live a fully sustainable lifestyle. Sounded like a pretty happy lifestyle! ...
After our Carthage College visit, we started our eastern leg staying in South Bend, Indiana. Of course, we had to tour the beautiful Notre Dame University campus, with old buildings - ate lunch with summer students in cafeteria...bring on the ice cream! The Notre D admissions counselor asked Adhya if he could add her to their mailing list :-)....only 5 more years!

We left the trail at Sodus Point, and headed south back toward camp. Along the way we stumbled across the Erie Canal (apparently the REAL one as compared to the one we saw in Ohio). We passed several locks that were still in operation, ...
... 447 miles through 49 locks and are just a little over halfway through Part 2 of the Great Meander. We may have to step it up a bit.
