Our trip to Milano got a late start--not our fault. The high speed train, Frecciarossa, was delayed over an hour due to some political rumblings/rallies in Bologna.

... so delicious but we were so full, we became very tired and headed home.
We decided to come back through Lake Como again but on an empty stomach so we could visit the many Historical sites of this beautiful destination.
On the way home, we stopped off at Autogrill and I got a coffee with ginseng. I reallllllyyyy like ginseng coffee. Not too sweet and not too bitter! :) We arrived home at 8pm. I had a nice hot bath and then we spent the rest of the night watching tv in Italian! ...
Checked out of room 7am, walked to the train station and caught the train to Rome at 7.42am. Lovely smooth ride on the train, hardly any passengers, first stop at Lausanne at 8.30 am. Terraced vineyards on one side of the train, Lake Geneva still on the other side of the tracks. Next stop Montrieux then Sion, still vineyards terraced up the hillsides, snow capped peaks in the background. Next stop Brig, train filling up now along the way. Next ...
... up for the car had us dragging our luggage from one end of Milan airport to the other until we finally found the right spot. Off to get the car.. the young Italian guy thought it bloody hilarious that I was the one doing the driving. Four hours later I have to agree. The driving wasn't as bad as I thought it would be, seems I remembered it from France and I got it pretty quickly. It was a day of freeways and tight, windey, skinny ...
