Chambero, Eastern, Zambia miles1... setting among the woods we go there again on Friday night. Though for some reason I felt exhausted just so tired so I skpped dinner and went straight to sleep, already before though everyone said how expensive the beers were and how drinks were rather expensive, already the food and drink prices have gone up, I think peeps may lay slightly off the drinks until the houseboats
Zambia, Northern, Zambia courters... single giraffe - how many people have had a wee with a giraffe watching!? The game drive this morning was amazing and I loved every minute of it. Maybe it was made even better by the fact we were back at camp by 10.30 and then had bacon and eggs for breakfast! Apart from the animals, one of the highlights from the morning was the amount of laughing we had about a group of American tourists doing their 'Out of Africa' impressions! They were obviously travelling together and they ...

It was bizarre as it was actually snoring, but the funniest was the reaction of the people walking down the path - they would wander down, suddenly spot it and jump off their feet!!! So I am now sat with bins at the ready, so far we have seen hippo, ele, croc, puku, impala, giraffe and a selection of birds - all from my seat by the tent! Jenny has just made bread which is cooking on the fire which the boys made - what will happen next?
South Luangwa, Zambia, Zambia emmaw... our only option was to take a taxi. After much negotiation we got the taxi for 250,000 Zambian Kwacha (about 60-70 USD) down from 500,000 Zambian Kwacha. We waited in the taxi for 30 minutes while the taxi driver waited for his friend to come and then we were off. Unfortuently 30 minutes down the road, the one light bulb (a low-light) blew out and the taxi had no more head lights. This is quite problematic as the road we to take is a ...
Mfuwe, Zambia sklitgord... in my tent by a snuffling sound and breaking twigs. We were warned that a small herd would pass through so I gingerly looked out my tent and came face to trunk with one. Let me tell you they are big anyway, but from a sleeping bag they are enormous. He wasn't much interested in me just the fruit from the trees above so he just looked, snuffled again, and turned round to join the three others about ten yards away. It ...
South Luangwa National Park, Zambia dazzla... with funny ears and no antlers...so not really like it but gives you some idea!, Thornicroft giraffe (the 4th kind we've seen...and this one you can only see in the national park), more hippos but in the river this time, more crocodiles, a banded mongoose, some buffalo, and on our way out some spotted bush buck. Back at camp we made some brunch and then chilled out in the bar...and I updated this...and here you have me passing away the afternoon on the 7th September.
South Luangwa, Zambia downtocl... A day behind schedule and a leaking hotel roof later (Malawi in rainy season is...rainy) and we were finally on our way to the much awaited South Luangwe National Park. The petrol prices (and in fact ALL prices) in Zambia are exorbidant - more than US$1.80 per litre - so we acted as a local taxi along the way picking up locals and ...
South Luangwa National Park, Zambia flowergyaru... snorting during the night. Also saw a small heard of elephant drinking at the mouth of a stream. 2 adults and 2 babies... wonderful. Had a fairly hair raising landing at Royal Zambezi courtesy of a sneaky updraft about 10 feet off the ground. Even Rob let out a muffled yelp, so I was excused for grabbing the arm rest!! Evidence that animals, large ones, do cross the strip is easily visible once you are on the ground!! Picked up 2 German tourists and set off for Mfuwe. Rob is a gizmo ...
South Luangwa National Park, Zambia margotmc... is at the border of Zambia. We crossed the border with no problems. Actually, there was one slight problem, which in Africa was not a problem at all. The Dutch guy that was in our safari group had failed to get the necessary shots required by the Zambian government. The border/visa guy was very willing to not let him into the country. Sadie went up and talked to the guy, and after arguing (and bargaining) with the guy, the Dutch guy ...
