... Rory 'Bossman' McCarthy who claims to be an officer in the British army but is in fact just a kitchen porter/janitor. He tries to pull the wool over our eyes with all those photos of him on Facebook in camouflage gear holding guns but in truth those photos are taken on Saturday afternoons when he goes paint-balling with other members of the cleaning staff. Our first impression of Richard was that he was really sound and that he was the spitting image of Andrew Morrissey. He had the same ...

Walking Tours & Night Buses

A travel blog entry by gavin_davies on Sep 28, 2014

The morning was pretty unconstructive. Ed and I checked out and bummed about either watching TV or on t'interweb. Eber's apartment is in the centre of Sao Paolo so it was a great base from which to explore the crazy city that's home to 20 million people. Not only did he share his home with us (letting us do our laundry, cooking us lunch), but he also took us out ...

... we explored the neighbourhood of our hotel. This area seems to be a very good neighbourhood: lots of modern high rise buildings with offices and condos, many shops, cafés and bars. Obviously, we had to get our first Caipirinha at a local bar. Yummy! Then we continued walking around for another two hours before dining at a Brazilian steak house. Oh dear, I have never seen nor eaten so much meat before! For everybody, who has not experienced a ...
