We all met up for dinner in the center of town. We then went for gelato before I have to take the night train to head to Lake Bled, Slovenia. It was sad to say goodbye to Jess and Ben. ... a magnificent mosaic feature over and around the alter. The mosaics survived the troubled times including WWII but not all the Greek marble remained in place. A number of churches were built in the area and the monks abandoned the Basilica for some time. In this time, the marble was removed/stolen. Marble from some of the other churches was recovered from their ruins and installed in the church.

... to climb - bugger, that is when we hit Mt Cootha! A 3km climb that was completed in two parts. Annette handled the first part well until she got about half way when she exited the seat and used her feet. I waited until she caught up with me and we both climbed up the remainder of the mountain.

... most shop owners can speak Russian as well. They had some lovely watches, handbags etc We were not far from our BB where we stayed last time - just gorgeous - except no air conditioning!! It wasn't quite this hot in October. Cinzia was a lovely hostess and there was Russians staying there as well. Cinzia invited us all to drinks and tapas on the front porch.
