The W times 10
If you like the W hotels, you'll love the Metropolitan. The rooms are enormous, the staff is incredible, the pool is gorgeous, and room service food is out of this world. Five stars to this hotel.
You hear a lot about the Peninsula, Sukothai, etc., but this one blows them all out of the water if you're into elegant and minimalist design.
It's got to be the best in Bangkok!
My wife and I spent 3 night at the Metropolitan in Bangkok in April at the start of our holiday...
We surely do not regret that choice, as this hotel is absolutely fantastic. Loving trendy and stylish hotel, we weren't dissapointed at all!
We found the attention to details particularly good, and the service was also excellent: exactly the right balanced between 5 star hotel and 'relaxed' (I can't stand the over pretentious staf you find in some hotels). Being welcome at 6 in the morning after a longhaul flight with a complemetery massage you weren't expecting is a very nice touch!
No need to repeat that the rooms were huge, with great bathroom, and a fab decor (the right mix between modern and Thai style)... The breakfats at Cyan was heaven: sitting by the pool just enjoying the early hours of the morning (jetlag!) with such a gorgeous fruits and juices buffet, not to mention the great dishes to choose from!
It's a shame that the Cyan restaurant does not serve Thai food, but a short walk to the Sukothai hotels's restaurant and you will enjoy one of the best Thai food!
No doubt we'll be going back!
Stay Here
Having stayed at a number of the top hotels in Bangkok, I would not hesitate in recommending The Metropolitan. The decor is chic, stylish and striking. The rooms are very large and the bathrooms are the best in the city. Someone else mentioned the fabulous bathrobes...oh yes! I found the service to be excellent and accomodating to our requests. Don't forget to email them before booking as you'll probably get even lower rates than those listed on the website.
Modern chic
Stayed here for 3 nights on a very good weekend promotion package. Very slick design hotel, attentive and warm service, free internet use and the business centre even charged my cell phone as I had forgotten to bring my charger, huge rooms with complimentary fruit bowl replenished during the day, lovely bathroom and great herbal toiletries. We also received a complimentary massage in the zen like spa.
Two choices of restaurant to breakfast in, both serving wide selection of food including great spread of tropical fruits. Beautiful pool but does attract its fair share of poseurs...
It's a relatively new hotel and during our three days there none of the taxi drivers knew where it was located - be sure to bring a map / address in Thai with you.
Fantastic
Wonderful stay at the Met in Bangkok. Stayed three nights at beginning of holiday and back for another night at the end. Very chilled and relaxing place. Is the old YMCA building and the rooms are enormous. Wonderful bathrooms, and very comfy beds. We stayed in rooms overlooking the pool and restaurant area, which I can highly recommend. Wouldn't bother looking at any other hotels if I was going back to Bangkok. Highly recommended.
Best bathrobes!
Whilst the service at this hotel can be a little up and down, rest assured I have been back several times - by choice. I love it, and I am fussy fussy fussy. The rooms are simply enormous, especially if travelling for business, and well appointed .... enough space to spread out into a little home. Without a doubt, amazing products and the best bathrobes!
It's amazing what you can do with a YMCA!
Wow!
We've just returned from Bangkok, and stayed at the Metropolitan for one night. It's a great hotel for design conscious guests and we loved it.
We woke up really early due to jet lag and headed down to the pool for a swim. We had it all to ourselves. We had breakfast at the restaurant that overlooks the pool. Great choice of breads, croissants, juices and cooked eggs!
The staff are very friendly and made our stay extremely enjoyable. I would recommend this hotel to anybody going to Bangkok!
UeberCool
I just stayed at the hotel for 3 days and can only highly recommend it. Rooms are spacious, beautifully designed in dark woods and bathrooms are very large. All the little extras you are looking for are there. CD player, great soaps&shampoo, tea/coffee in the room, nice bathrobes, beautiful bedlinen etc.
The hotel offers a beautiful spa and outside swimmingpool. The restaurant with the outside terrace is fab and overlooks the pool. Staff was always helpful and at hand with recommendation.
The place seems to be right out of Wallpaper* and we had to force ourselves to go out and see Bangkok because hanging out at the pool, getting a massage and lunching on the terrace was just too tempting. If you like design that's the place for you!
Hip, cool hotel
We thoroughly enjoyed our three nights at the Metropolitan. You would never believe they converted a YMCA to make this stunning hotel (except for a minor plumbing issue.) We had a great view of the large, aesthetic, and well-maintained pool though it received only about 5 hours of sun a day. The restaurants served the some of the best food we ate during our two week trip. The staff helped us with all of our needs and consistently greeted us with smiles. The business center had a high speed internet connection (the first 15 minutes were free). An upscale bar connects to the hotel with tasty if pricey drinks. They had quite of selection of infused vodkas. This hotel should appeal to travelers who prefer modern, trendy establishments over more conservative hotels like the Pennisula or the Oriental. I highly recommend the Metropolitan.
Stay in a cool place in hot Bangkok
I stayed at the Metropolitan Bangkok beginning of July and was truly impressed!
To keep it short: Fantastic room (I guess my deluxe room was more than 55sqm), very well furnished in dark wood, green silks and plenty of light. Don't misunderstand - it's not the old dark wood and stuffy silk wallpaper look most luxury hotels have - just check out the website for an idea. Bathrooms are huge and very cool, all bathroom amenities are from the great Shambhala range, exclusive to COMO Hotels. And the best bathrobes I've ever seen anywhere!
Food was good to fantastic, depending on the dish. Nice, friendly service without being imposing - but there is room for improvement. All the staff are in very cool uniforms with adidas sneakers, it reminds you of a cool club or bar rather than a hotel. Nice pool and stylish members-only bar with very good drinks. I didn't use the spa, but another guest told me it is out of this world. Have to try next time...
This is a great new hotel, especially for the young or young at heart who just don't want to stay in hotels that look all the same all over the world, but still expect great service. Here you get style, quality and service under one roof. I will definitely be back!

The Met Bar in Bangkok!!
Hi Everyone! I've just managed to steel a small break before I hit the town tonight! I'm in Bangkok for work, and totally enjoying this amazing city!! I've been here only a couple of days and will be back in London on Sunday. I convince, Ben, my eternal "back-packing" traveller mate, to try a little bit of a "high-end" experience for once - had to …
A life of luxury
My mom and I met at the airport in Bangkok around midnight and were taken to our hotel. Lets just say it's a far cry from my tenting days in Botswana. It is a very modern place where the staff jumps every time they think you might be about to think you need something.
The next morning, after a massive breakfast, we headed off on our tour …
Spicy hot in bangkok
Really enjoying the tropical weather again! Spent two nights in Bangkok and we were able to get a full-day in exploring some sites of the old city. We visited the magnificent Grand Palace with its beautiful glittering golden rooftops and soaring pagodas...and many more cool little temples. We ended the day on a boat exploring the old canals of the …
