... water fountain (jet d'eau) shooting 420 feet in the air. Mom and Dad decided to feed the babies coots in the nest attracting giant swans almost causing a slaughter of the babies! We also had a marathon lunch because the staff all decided to have a lunch break while we waited for the check. ... where my godmother was waiting for us. We were showered with chocolate and couldn't thank her enough. Helped my godbrother set up for his best friend's surprise 20th birthday party. Balloons, streamers, old photos, food and drinks and a ton of alcohol, the whole 9 yards. We even made sandwiches, now that's dedication. ... and Mike has looked after us splendidly. Hopefully he's not too upset that his top shelf of interesting spirits has taken a bit of a hit.

Next we headed off down towards Monaco. We've had to do some planning to avoid closed mountain passes crossing the Alps - many of them don't open until June. Google Maps reckons eight hours - will be interesting to see how long it takes in the van as hills are not it's favorite thing... don't even mention mountains.

Left Milan and this time had a good seat from which I could see the countryside go passed and just as well because we headed north towards Switzerland skirting around the edge of the lake.
