... return tickets by the awful ferry to get back to Surabaya and as we had now flown and cut several days of travelling out, we had only a very short window of time to get a refund on our ferry tickets. 11am to be precise!

We had to dash across the city to their head office. We were there by 8:30am abut had to wait 30 minutes as they didn't open until 9am.

By 9:05 no one had turned up for the ticket office so we asked a man in another office when it was opening. ...

... The people I had talked to said that Jakarta was full of traffic and pollution with nothing to see or do! Wikitravel also has a lot of warnings about safety in Jakarta so really I was not sure what to expect to be honest! In the evening I met with a guy I knew through someone I met in Sumatra (network!). We went out for dinner and then went out with his friends till early in the morning. And this is what we did basically every day for one week. And to add a bit of culture to my visit in Yogya, I visited one of the temples. To get there by scooter was somewhat challenging, as the rules ...

... I don't recommend it to those with server claustrophobia. Arriving inside the building I was amazed as it is a giant. There are four walls of Museum displays with each wall labeled from satu (one) to empat (four) serving as a time line in Indonesia's history. The Museum displays were 3D reconstruction of the moments in history being described in the panels below them. The detail in these displays was astonishing I can honestly say you couldn't find anything like this at ...
