Yerevan, Armenia mandelbrot... Waterworld or to Lake Sevan to have a swim, and in the evening get out to downtown and enjoy cafés, restaurants, bars, diskos, karaokes, open-air concerts, long promenades and just have fun. And by all means enjoy the fruits and vegetables of summer!!! Especially our apricots, peaches, apples, figs and different berries: strawberry, blackberry, raspberries, currants (red and white), bilberries and the ...
Yerevan, Yerevan, Armenia eleoshka... if you want the righteous stuff from the Italian machine with the Holley four-barrel carburetor, you'll have to pay dearly for that, not like in Ethiopia with their antique espresso machines. Gypsy Kings are coming to Erevan tomorrow; Jethro Tull's already been here. The police all wear huge Barney Fife-style hats that look like mortar-boards without the brains beneath. I've got a kitchen at the hostel and the supermarkets aren't bad, so ...
Yerevan, Armenia hardiek... as we walk and walk, have coffee, lunches etc, we come back here to their apartment for the evening meals, and taxi back to ours later. We are now confident in our surroundings and the currency. More later, but just to say quickly we are having an amazing time. Much Love Marion and Lizxx
Yerevan, Armenia mablim... the organised part is late, I explore nearby graveyards a bit. Then we move even more south and the landscape changes from fields back to mountainous semi-desert wasteland. I just start thinking how unentertaining this ride is and a tire explodes;). The driver takes enormous time to change it and thus we have lot of time to explore the surroundings and chat with each other. What elderey people do is they like to give advice which makes the crew nervous;). Anyway, it's done and off we go ...
Yerevan, Armenia mys... because I expected them to live up with a lot of my friends' recommendation. Well, might have been just a bad day for them. The snow was somewhat minimal when we got to Zvarnots International Airport in Yerevan. It was one of those underdeveloped airports that obviously had a lot of potential, but just didn't get much attention from their government. The passport control was effecient though, and the people were so warm you could see through their ...
Yerevan, Armenia wolf007The borders between Turkey and Armenia and between Armenia and Azerbaijan are closed. Turkey and Armenia still are not talking due to the fact that Turkey (and the US) will not acknowledge the genocide of Armenian people. Azerbaijan and Armenia are still technically at war and the borders are sealed with military troops. This would make it a necessity to enter Georgia twice if we wanted to go to Armenia. In 2006 John, OJ and myself had traveled with Cheryl ...
Yerevan, Armenia travelingtony... the city, the ones who were more dressed up with their (Russian-style?) fashionable gear. -We visited 4 families in Armenia, and we were reminded of the warmth and the love Armenians offer...awe. -Overall, there were very few incidences of feeling scammed here (by a few cabbies), and we felt like you could trust Armenians in the tourist scene. I pray that even if the tourist numbers increase, Armenians will remain trustworthy, even if you don ...
Yerevan, Armenia john_anita... kids- newborn to 6 years old. The lady who ran the orphanage said that once they get to age 7 they are sent to another orphanage. Not only are the kids little, but they also have both physical and mental disabilities and their parents sent them to the orphanage by choice. It wasn't that their parents were unable to care for them- they weren't wanted! It nearly brings me to tears to imagine that a parent would care so little about their own child that they would send them ...
