Final day of riding; today we rode to Arbon for the conclusion of the trip. Today was hot and sunny; the ride was level and beautiful, following the Rhine for part of the way, then along the Lake. The bike path went through horse country, forested areas with plenty of shade, and through small towns. Lunch was in a church yard near Widn; there were …

... there are steam rooms, hot tubs, coffee bar, indoor and outdoor pools. There are all sorts of places to shower with different kinds of water..some ice cold, some with jets, some with ice in a bucket by your side.

The entire experience is addictive. The place is very very well run. It was marvelous. I have no photos to share with you, sorry, but I want each of you to do this when you get a ...

Meersburg has made it to the list of my all time favorite towns. It is on the north side of Lake Konstanze and was another German city spared bombing. Consequently it's medieval architecture is evident in just about everything. So many people out today. It boasts the largest castle in Germany and has the most incredible lakeside promenade. Today we had our first REAL apple strudel. YUM. Our spellplatze for the evening is also very nice. Photos to ...

be heading back to Winkel to tidy up, return the bus and generally get ready
for the long trip home. Corinne made contact with her brother and a decision
was taken to meet up with him at the Rhinefal in Schaffhausen. So after a good
breakfast, onto the bikes for a gentle 45km round trip to Shaffhausen and back.
Fortunately the road took us along the banks of the Rhine and ...

... and think that we may
one day end up living here. It all depends on what we can find to buy.

We ended up our ride at the town of Stien am Rhine which is
an old town that dates back to the 1600’s. The old part of the town is
beautifully preserved and the walls are covered with murals depicting the
cities founding fathers. What is good to see is that even the newer building
have carried on the mural tradition and modern murals adorn ...
