        ... over it - where are the messy parts of this country? I found one cabin in the forest, actually, where someone had perhaps tried to keep warm with newspaper, and left it there - that's the ONLY mess I saw in the forest! Now, in the countryside, I saw horse manure and 3 cigarette packets - well, where did they come from!!?? How sad of those people to spoil the record of NO litter!!

        So, what I learned in the countryside is that the farmers only have a few ...

        ... you know the time 24/7 (handy in the wee hours of the morning) firstly the catholic church clock rings, then a few minutes later, the protestant church bells ring - I'm not sure yet who's early and who's late!!

        Yves hired a car for us for the weekend, so he drove Jake and I to some places of interest and delight! Saturday, we wandered through Appenzell with lovely little shops on the street for pedestrians only, we had a picnic at the base ...

        ... the customs building straight into Switzerland!! I didn't even know this! There was no one standing there asking for immigration documents so I just kept on walking. But, later when I cam with my friend there was a customs officer standing there and he told us the police station was around the back.
