We leave the Hotel Forestia and the beautiful Park surrounding the Abbey for the ride of about a dozen kilometres to Macerata. A gentle decline on a busy road leads across an Autostrada and climbs around the wooded hills under the town. Soon we are in peak hour traffic. Macerata is a large town. We struggle to negotiate turns in busy streets and the station proves to be elusive. We want to obtain our tickets and confirm train times before we climb into the ...

... into the park attached to the Abbadia and find ourselves among the extensive buildings which make up the complex and the associated Hotel Forestia, cafes, and information centre. E10 each gets us entry to the Abbey, and we do not feel ********e by. Everything is beatifully restored and exhibitions within are thoughtfully displayed. We are in a quiet campground by the sea but access to the sea is via a very steep difficult path which we climbed down and the sea was all wild and foamy and not too pleasant. Kerry tried to throw some large buoys into the water but they just kept coming back in. I am not coming back as a life guard on duty for all these camp grounds. It must be the most boring job ever. I'm sure ...

... We have checked out the beach and its very nice and tomorrow we shall go and check out some of these wee towns scattered around this district. 9th September 2015 Got up a bit later and after breakfast we went riding to Portonovo, a small settlement on the beach. It was 30km of steep hills and amazing scenery. We had a coffee stop and a sausage roll and cream bun before tackling the 5km climb out of Portonovo. I don't think I would have got up the hill otherwise. This coast is ...

... couple days after that. There was a pool, fresh fruit from the garden, and of course, delicious home cooked Italian meals. It was such a fun and relaxing week and we could not be more grateful to have had this opportunity here in Italy. We have been so lucky and we're not sure why, but hoping it ...
