      Got on a Eurostar (fast train) in Rome for our trip to Switzerland. I was rather looking forward to it as I have never been on one before. We had seats allocated and the train was packed to capacity. For a journey of 580 Km to Milan with stops in Florence and Bologna we had 3 hours 15 minutes allocated, not bad when you think.       ... eased the rain had just about stopped but the road surface was flooded with large puddles congregating along the way. The spray from trucks and other vehicles was just terrible indeed. At times I never knew if it was even still raining or simply just spray from the other vehicles.

      Finally into France and the motorway surface changes to a more rough surface which is better for me as I know the bikes tyres will grip on this surface much more than the smooth tar surface. ...

      Later on we continued our tour with a 40 minute walk along the Aare river to the Tierpark Dählhölzli which is a small but very nice local Zoo. There we spent a few hours watching more bears, fishes and playful seals.
