... the teacher was able to balance her time with each grade.  Many of the students were working on the metric system. The last lesson we watched was an eighth grade English lesson.  This lesson was fun because we could understand what was going on much better!  Fun to hear. Got in the car and started heading north for Switzerland. Before the border we bought a vignette (sticker for Autobahn) and filled the tank up as the fuel in Switzerland is dearer, like everything else. Cruising along, until we got near the St. Gotthard Tunnel (16.4Km) to take us through the Alps. Nearing the tunnel there was the usual traffic jam (we heard later on 10Km) It took us 1 hour to get into the tunnel and after that it ...

We did a sightseeing tour of Lucerne and I must say that it's more crowded than Bern. Most are usually tourists from China, Hong Kong and even Japanese. Lucerne is really a nice place, with lots of shops selling watches, swiss army knifes, souvenirs, shirts and more! It somehow looks more like a shopping street to me. We went to see the ...

... have been moved to a more modern open enclosure although the old pit is still there as a monument. The bears now have access to the river as well as a large grassed area.

Our walk up the hill to the Rose Garden was quite exhausting but well worth the effort. The views of the old city and the river are magnificent. Besides the views the flowers in this garden are beautiful, although there were not many roses due to the season. An excellent city and well worth the visit.

... went together so well. A hearty meal of pork chops, potatoes (kinda between baked and fried that was AMAZING) and cheese…mmmm. And that was pretty much our day, had a train to catch later that night and everything was really too expensive to do much else so it was a lot of window shopping.

Et voila, Bern where the sights are picturesque and the locals know how to run a museum but beware your wallet and make sure you have money to spend! ...
