... see how long it'll last. Caught the tram up to the Gurten. A huge hill, mountain thing, where the huge festival called Festival is held every year. Up there, it is all park lands, mountain bike tracks, stages, giant tower with 120 steps one way which has a breath taking view, playground and restaurants. It is totally gorgeous, you have views of the whole city as you are slightly in the outskirts. It is a must see in Bern. We climbed up the tower then as we tried to read the ...

Got on a Eurostar (fast train) in Rome for our trip to Switzerland. I was rather looking forward to it as I have never been on one before. We even found in mid western areas around Chur the language is Romanesk apparently. Obviously as you head ...

In 1998 I spent a day in Bern and it was so lovely. In a way I love the unreliability of memory; it's like a magic wand that makes our memories shiny and beautiful. In this mode, Bern is like a fairy tale city. My friends and I scamper around the old part of town eating ice cream and refilling our water bottles at the public fountains. The bears in the pit are slightly pitiful, but also interesting and ...

... continue walking up and that would have given him enough time to bike around. To Kevin's disappointment, I had to disagree with this plan because, to my knowledge, we were in the middle of nowhere in the Alps and could not afford to risk it.

They agreed to stay together and started our ascend. That is when I realized people saying, "the view is breath taking", they might mean it literally. It was for me. Graciously, the boys were understanding of my lack of experience hiking up ...
