The Big Buddha is a definite must see in Bangkok, the sheer magnitude of it is mind-boggling. We spent about an hour walking around the grounds and sat in a room where the monks were chanting; this was surprisingly calming even in the stifling heat.
We made our way back to our hostel and stopped off for some dinner. We both had Pad Thai chicken, still getting used ...

After 1.5 hours we got out of the car and walked to the hotel, the meter was clocking up lots of baht whilst we idled in a jam. It seemed like the driver may have taken us round the block to make more money. The bill came to 435 Baht, he tried to charge 500, but settled for 400baht in the end. We walked ...
... both sides of almost every alley and crowds of people. In some places it was difficult to walk between the stalls but there would still be scooters trying to get through. Dessa didn't want to try the BBQ'd pig face (neither did I actually) but we did have some fresh fruit and chicken satay. This is where we lost the screw that attached selfie pole #2 to the new camera (a $50 pole we bought with the camera). Pole #1, from New Year's Eve, was not strong enough to hold ...
... were immediately invited to join their staff new years party! Free food and drinks, including all the Thai specialities such as silk worm and crickets! (yes we tried them...). We absolutely love this hostel, its really small and homely and mega clean and has everything you need including 24/hr cereal, toast and chocolate milk... seriously what more could you want... for £6.50 a night! Our double bed pod is sooo comfy, I've slept ...
Due to my great planning and spontaneous booking of a bus back I was now in Bangkok to get my Vietnamese Visa on a Saturday. But it's a holiday so I would find something to do.
First I enjoyed the complementary Hostel coffee and little fried doughballs again and then did some research on how to get the Visa and what to consider and where to go. Also investigated what is the best way to travel from Bangkok over Cambodia to Vietnam.
